It's been almost a decade since Alice Dixson decided to step out of showbiz and move to Canada, where she lives with her husband Ronnie Miranda.
While others find it hard to leave show business, Alice did not think twice.
"I think it's for love," the returning actress tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other media when asked why she left the country.
She adds, "I love my husband and we have a strong relationship."
Although she lives away from the Philippines, Alice has never forgotten her passion for acting. Sometimes she comes back to do a stint for a TV show or a movie.
Alice became famous for her Palmolive commercial and for playing Faye in the hit TV series Okay Ka, Fairy Ko.
She admits that being an actress will forever be part of her life.
"There's always going to be the creative side, the actor in me. So, I wanted to come home and feel that side of me rin," says the former Dyesebel actress, who has found a new career as a realtor in Canada.
Alice feels fortunate that she doesn't have to be torn between her acting career, on one hand, and marriage, on the other.
"Mahal niya ako kaya pinayagan niya ako to do what I love doing, which is acting. Kahit na magkakalayo kami, he understands 'yong yearning ko," relates Alice.
But does her husband sanction what she can and cannot do in front of the camera?
"My husband doesn't put any limitation on me," answers Alice. "Hindi gano'n ang pagkatao niya. He trusts me. And na-meet naman niya ako na artista na ako. He's that kind of person that's why we've been together for so long, because mayroon kaming give and take."
Alice also says that this is just one of the many things she enjoys about being a married woman.
"It's just part of having somebody. I'm very lucky to have that somebody in my life. Everything else is a different thing. Pero, I think, the best part of being married is your friendship with your partner. At the end, I've been very lucky to be able to enjoy that relationship for over 10 years now."
NO KIDS YET. Although Alice has been married for more than a decade, she has not become pregnant.
When asked about it, Alice says that she and her husband are still waiting for whatever is planned for them.
"We don't have kids right now and we didn't plan to have kids right away in our marriage. Now that I'm still busy, I don't think na mangyayari 'yon in the near future," she says.
While others would probably adopt a child, Alice has other concerns.
"Hindi pa namin naiisip 'yon," she says. "Kasi, when you're in Canada, iba talaga ang lifestyle doon. You'll do everything. Sometimes you don't even have time to spend with your friends kasi busy ka, e, you have house chores and I meet with the clients. So, hindi ko mabibigay ang oras na kailangan ng bata even if he's adopted or my own.
"Sa ngayon, hindi pa. But siguro, if I stay in the Philippines, dito ako maninirahan, I will have the help. Pero wala pa ako roon."
Instead of thinking too much about kids, Alice reflects, "Only God knows naman what's planned for us. So, I take it day by day."
