"Actually, my dad texted me on that day, 'yon nga, sabi niya hindi sila pinayagan..." said Kylie Padilla when asked by PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) about her reaction to the supposed wedding of her dad Robin Padilla and stepmom Mariel Rodriguez in a Catholic church. It was reported that Robin had asked someone from the Vatican if he can marry Mariel in a Catholic church despite his Muslim religion. But the plan did not push through.
Kylie added, "But then I said that, sabi ko lang sa kanila, 'Well, Pa, you can still get married in your heart, di ba?'
"Hindi naman, nasa puso naman 'yon, e. So if you're both happy and you know, say vows in front of the Vatican or whatever, e, di counted na 'yon."
PEP interviewed Kylie on the set of her GMA-7 afternoon soap Blusang Itim yesterday, August 4, at Provident Village in Marikina City.
What's the reaction of her mom, Liezl Sicangco, about this?
"She's okay with it noon pa," said Kylie.
"Okay naman na lahat. She's really okay with it na. Ang tagal na nun, ha."
STEPMOM. PEP also asked Kylie how her dad has changed since he has been with Mariel.
Kylie answered, "Tingnan n'yo naman po sa Guns and Roses [ABS-CBN primetime show], mukha siyang 20. 'Yon na 'yong sagot ko—may glow na siya!"
How's Mariel as a stepmother?
"A, she's nice," she replied.
Does she like her?
"Yeah, I like her."
Does she call her 'mom'?
"No, she doesn't want us.
"Hindi naman na she doesn't want us... she knows what it feels like to have a stepmom."
Kylie also shared with PEP that she opens up to Mariel about her lovelife.
"Ang nakakatawa sa kanya is hindi ko na kailangan mag-open up.
"Siya na mismo 'yong magsasabi, 'A, Kylie, you know…' 'How did you know, Tita?' 'Thank you!'
"The first time she saw Aljur [Abrenica, Kylie's suitor], 'yong dumating sa birthday ko.
"Sabi niya, 'Kylie, I can see the glow in your eyes!' 'Yon lang. Sabi ko, 'Okay.'
"So, lahat na, parang alam na niya, hindi ko na kailangan magsalita."
