The patron area of the Smart Araneta Coliseum was transformed into a huge dance floor last November 30, 2011, so Pinoys can groove to the hits of American rapper Pitbull.
Born to Cuban immigrants, the singer-songwriter came here to the Philippines to promote his fifth album Planet Pit.
To warm up the crowd, DJ Marlon Arellano of Cebu intensified the party vibe with fast tunes such as "Moves Like Jagger" and "Without You."
Finally, Pitbull came out of the stage wearing his signature coat and aviator shades. Addressed the crowd, he said, "First of all, I'd like to thank everyone here in the Philippines. I want everybody's hands up in the air!"
The greeting segued to his live rendition of "Party Rock Anthem (Every Day I'm Shuffling)," which had the fans on their feet. Next, he sang "Rain Over Me."
Before he moved on to the next number, he said, "Since we came all the way from Paris to reach the beautiful country of the Philippines, it's right that we take it to the ol' school!"
With that spiel, the people screamed, anticipating that his next song would be the oh-so-familiar "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)."
Another hit, "On the Floor," was also well received by the viewers that showed no signs of slowing down as the night progressed.
Pitbull told the ladies: "For the beautiful, powerful, sophisticated women we have here tonight, I think it's right that we invite them to the hotel room. He then dished out "Hotel Room Service," and later on, performed "I Gotta Feeling."
To introduce his next song, Pitbull asked: "We go around the world and we ask them: 'Does everybody in the Philippines know how to get crazy? Yes or no?'"
He was answered with a loud "yes!"
The singer jumped up and down as he shouted, "Manila, get crazy! Everybody in the Philippines, get crazy!"
Before his finale, he told the Pinoys who watche dhis concert:
"I was able to show the world how to turn a negative into a positive. I want everybody to give me your everything tonight!"
And yes, they did, while Pitbull was also giving his all in the number "Give Me Everything," his collaboration with Ne-Yo.
Celebrities spotted at the Big Dome that night were Bubbles Paraiso, JM Rodriguez, and Cristalle Henares.
