Halos patapos na ang celebration ng 10th anniversary party ng YES! magazine nang dumating si Gretchen Barretto sa NBC Tent sa The Fort kagabi, February 23. Pero naharang muna siya ng media, kabilang na ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), for an interview sa lobby ng NBC Tent.
Ibinulalas ni Gretchen ang kanyang damdamin sa hindi pagkakatuloy ng unang proyekto na dapat ay pagsasamahan nila ng youngest sister niya na si Claudine Barretto sa ABS-CBN. Lumipat na kasi sa GMA-7 si Claudine bago nagtapos ang 2009.
"Alam mo, magkikita't magkikita kami and one of these days, I'm sure magkakatrabaho rin kami," sabi niya. "Ako kasi yung tao na hindi marunong magtampo. Siguro if ever merong isang time na parang nanghinayang...is that the word? Or nalungkot, pero yung para magtampo... Kasi siyempre, ang career dinidesisyunan 'yan ng sarili. Di ba, dapat ikaw ang magdedesisyon? Desisyon niya 'yon, so nirerespeto ko 'yon. Truly."
BEA REPLACES CLAUDINE. Si Bea Alonzo ang pumalit kay Claudine sa teleseryeng pagsasamahan sana nila ni Gretchen.
"Yes, tuloy na tuloy na. In fact, tomorrow [Feb. 24], magwo-workshop kami," banggit niya.
First time rin nilang magkakatrabaho ni Bea. How does she find Bea?
"Napakagaling. Kasi, di ba, today, pinanood ko yung movie niya [with John Lloyd Cruz na Miss You Like Crazy]. Napakagaling at napaka-intense. So, parang I feel inspired and challenged at the same time. And at the same time, alam ko rin na marami akong matutunan sa kanya. Marami akong tips na mahihingi sa kanya," saad ni Gretchen.
Nagkausap na ba sila ni Bea?
"Tomorrow pa lang, kasi the whole day kami magkasama sa workshop. So magkakakilanlanan talaga kami nang mabuti tomorrow."
Hindi ba siya nai-intimidate kay Bea dahil kilala ito bilang mahusay na batang aktres?
"I'm not kasi the type na nai-intimidate. I'm the type na nae-excite. You know, kasi I don't see anyone as parang a threat. Kung kinakaibigan mo, may matutunan ka, di ba?"
ASKING TONYBOY'S PERMISSION. Paano siya humingi ng permiso sa kanyang partner at businessman na si Tonyboy Cojuangco na gumawa ng teleserye?
"Sabi ko, 'Hey lover, I'm gonna have a career!'" sabay tawa ni Gretchen.
Hirit pa ni Greta, "Alam mo, hindi kasi dapat siniseryoso ang mga bagay-bagay na, 'Can I have a career?' You know, hindi ko na siniseryoso. Kapag sineryoso mo 'yan, makukuha mong sagot, 'No', di ba? Pero kapag sinabi mo, 'Hey, lover, I'll have a career...'"
Anong klaseng paglalambing ang ginawa niya para ma-convince si Tonyboy na payagan siyang mag-artista ulit?
"Hindi, ano naman, kinonvince ko siya na sisikat ako at yayaman ako on my own!" tawa niya. "Sabi niya, 'Good, wala na akong gastos! Hihihi!"
May cut-off ba siya sa taping?
"Six ng umaga ang call time ko hanggang six ng next day ang cut-off ko for the first few months. Kasi ganun, di ba, pag bida?" tawa ni Gretchen. "Ganun talaga kapag may sarili kang ano... Siyempre, pumayag ako dahil masipag ako at artista na ako. Kailangang pumayag."
Okey lang kay Tonyboy ang gano'ng oras niya sa trabaho?
"Well, sabi naman niya sa akin, mabuti naman 'yan na matuto raw ako na magtrabaho ng ganun para raw marunong akong..." putol ni Gretchen at natawa ulit.
