One doesn't have to be a car-racing enthusiast to understand Ferrari's global appeal. The highly popular brand—founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1928—has established itself as perhaps the best in the supercar automotive market.
The Ferrari empire has expanded its line through brand licensing, which now includes eyewear, pens, perfume, electronic goods, perfume, clothing, watches, and even computers. But of course, Ferrari's lasting image remains its gorgeous sports cars.
Though not everyone could own a real Ferrari to drive around town, collectors fascinated with the brand have found satisfaction in collecting Ferrari model cars available in hobby shops.
CONTINUING PARTNERSHIP. For over 60 years, Ferrari and Shell enjoy a successful technical partnership that benefited both parties.
With the cooperation of MTV, Shell and Ferrari launched the latest batch of the New Ferrari Model Cars with Real Engine Sounds last April 6 at the SM Mall of Asia's Main Mall Atrium.
Shell commissioned the Ferrari FXX, Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano, Ferrari F430 Challenge, Ferrari 250 GTO, Ferrari F40, Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale, and the Ferrari 575 GTC for this year's edition of model cars.
Shell Fuels Brand Manager, Stephanie Cua, proudly shared that the team behind the project worked closely with Ferrari to ensure that the model cars perfectly captured the essence and unique sound of each real model.
"The sounds are realistic," enthused Stephanie. "The engine revs during pull back and changes pitch as the car moves from low to high gear during release."
The special launching was graced by rocker-actor Marc Abaya, Issa Litton, model Borgy Manotoc and rock bands Up Dharma Down and Kjwan.
To avail of the new Ferrari cars with real engine sound, one simply has to gas up at any participating Shell station. For minimum purchase of 500 pesos, a customer can already own a Ferrari as low as P80 when loading up with Shell V-Power and only P120 for other purchases of Shell. Promo runs from April 6 up to May 17.
