About a hundred Hollywood stars were out and about in Los Angeles, California on February 25 (February 24, US time) for the 85th annual Academy Awards.

Of course, the ladies— particularly the top nominees— decked out in their fabulous formal wear and wowed the crowd at the red carpet.

JESSICA CHASTAIN. Zero Dark Thirty star Jessica Chastain continues to prove that she deserves to be on any best dressed list as she stepped on the Oscars red carpet wearing an Armani Prive gown.

During her interview with the Associated Press (AP), the best actress nominee called her outfit the “Happy birthday, Mr. President dress,” saying it exudes much of old Hollywood glam.

Truly, the gold metallic dress’ classic sweetheart neckline, mermaid bottom, and awry vein patterns gave off a sexy vibe.

Jessica completed her retro look with side-parted hair set in big waves, and full red lips.

NAOMI WATTS. Best actress nominee Naomi Watts looked all shiny on the red carpet wearing a fully sequined Giorgio Armani dress.

It would’ve been just a simple corset sheath gown, but a crescent cutout on the left shoulder gave it an element of surprise.

Given the dress’ striking silver metallic color, the The Impossible star made sure to keep her accessories to a minimum and her hair bunched into an updo, giving her a clean look.

JENNIFER LAWRENCE. Meanwhile, 22-year-old Jennifer Lawrence looked pretty on the red carpet wearing a white Dior Haute Couture ball gown.

The best actress nominee for Silver Linings Playbook told the AP that it was the first and only dress she tried on for the event.

She completed her pristine look with a bun hairstyle, Chopard jewels, Brian Atwood heels, and silver Clare Vivier purse.

UPDATE: Jennifer Lawrence won the Oscar for best actress.
