Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma: Letting go of limelight trappings to enjoy life
by Bong Godinez posted on February 9, 2011  STATS: 5010 Views | 3 Comments

Kuh Ledesma gives utmost importance to having enough sleep to maintain a good skin.   "May cut-off time ako. The most is twelve [midnight]... Ayoko nang nagpupuyat," the Pop Diva tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal).

Pop Diva Kuh Ledesma takes good care of her complexion—and health in general. In the first place, her good genes take credit.

"Very complacent ako because my mother has very good skin. Even when I was a teenager and all that, maganda talaga ang skin ko—matulog lang ako," the pop and jazz singer candidly tells PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) over lunch at Henry's Place restaurant at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

Dr. Venia Javellana of Advanced Aesthetics agrees, saying, "She has healthy skin, even skin tone and even skin color. I only use the lightest of treatments with her, usually just a little light therapy."

The Pop Diva, however, admits that age, along with external factors like pollution, and the glaring heat coming from the stage lights has encouraged her to seek professional guidance at least "once or twice a month."

Aside from the soap, light treatments and topical agents recommended by Dr. Javellana, the well-respected singer-performer  never fails to apply sunblock lotion every time she's outdoors.

She says, "Importante ang sunblock when you go out kasi 'yong effect pala talaga ng sun, it ages your skin."

Still, Kuh never forgets to practice her tried-and-tested skin care habit: "It's a known fact that sleep is good for the skin. I do my best to sleep before twelve [midnight]. Kasi alam mo naman kami sa showbiz we have so many activities."

Kuh values her health enough to stay away from the grinding routine expected of those working in the entertainment industry.

"That's why I didn't continue making films because of that—staying up late! I'm really not for that. Para sa akin kasi, money cannot pay for your health. I like to take care of myself. I don't smoke because smoking is bad for the skin. It's a fact kasi bad for circulation 'yon, e."

In a cutthroat business where today's big thing is tomorrow's forgotten fad, Kuh's tranquil outlook springs from her spirituality.

"My faith with God brings me a lot, trusting God, having a personal relationship with Christ has really given me the peace that I cannot buy from anywhere.

"Kasi noon matutulog ako alas-dos, alas-kuwatro, ang feeling ko wala pa! Kelangan may gagawin pa ko.

"Ngayon, hindi na. Tomorrow is another day. I can just do it tomorrow. Alam mo 'yon? Para kang naghahabol sa buhay, 'yong kelangan may magawa pa, hindi e. Parang ngayon contented ka na, enough na 'yong nagawa mo today. Tomorrow naman ulit, Lord," smiles the Pop Diva.

Watch Kuh Ledesma together with the Hitmakers in a concert titled The Greatest Love Songs of our Time on February 12 and 13 at the PICC Plenary Hall, CCP Complex, Roxas Blvd. Pasay City.

Obviously, Kuh Ledesma has found inner peace. Hindi naman siguro pagiging self-righteous kung alam na ng isang tao na hindi siya ang in control sa buhay na ito and attributes it to the Almighty One.
