Tessa Prieto-Valdez is known for being a fashionista, a socialite, and a junkie for all things beautiful and luxurious.

But what many people don’t know about her is that she’s also a fan of nature and the great outdoors.

Last Holy Week, she went to Australia and did all sorts of fun things under the sun with her family. (CLICK HERE to read related article)

And all year round, she flies back and forth to Boracay to either attend several events or just hang around the beach.

“I’m such a beach person,” she told PEP.ph (Philippine entertainment Portal) in an interview held on March 27.

“I go diving, I go wakeboarding and scuba diving, so I really put my skin to the test.”

We've known for a while that too much sun exposure can damage the skin.

So how does Tessa keep her skin looking young and healthy even at 49?

“For summer, you’re talking about protecting your skin against skin cancer because of the heat and stuff,” she says.

Her foolproof beauty advice: Use products that have the right amount of SPF.

For daily use, the minimum level is 15. This should be enough to protect your skin from minimal sun exposure, like commuting to work every morning.

But if you’re planning to stay longer under the sun, say you’re hitting the beach or going mountain climbing, the minimum SPF level should be 50.

It is also important to drink lots of water during the day to keep your skin hydrated.

And after exposing yourself under the sun, Tessa advises to let your skin breathe and rejuvenate by cleansing, toning, and moisturizing.

“I believe that you shouldn’t limit or restrict yourself, like don’t go out na lang [to avoid the sun].
