Tanya Garcia showed no signs of regret about temporarily leaving showbiz when PEP.ph  (Philippine Entertainment Portal) caught up with her at the opening of her salon business Alcutraz in Quezon City on April 10.

In 2007, the pretty actress left her blossoming career behind to focus on her pregnancy with Mischa Amidala, her eldest daughter with former Pampanga Governor Mark Lapid.

Now after five years, Tanya seems to be fulfilled with Mischa turning four this year and her younger daughter Matilda Anika now one-year-old.

When asked if she had any trouble adjusting to the role of being a hands-on mom, the petite actress said, “Well, hindi, kasi nag-e-enjoy talaga ako.

“Nag-e-enjoy ako sa mga kids na ako talaga ang nag-aalaga sa mga kids ko.”

Tanya finds it most essential for a mother to be there for her children during their formative years.

In fact, that's primarily why she and Mark decided to put a three-year gap between their children.

“Talagang nag-plan kami kasi nga gusto ko siyempre maalagaan talaga nang mabuti iyong panganay, di ba? Iyong talagang may time ka.

“Kasi, unlike kasi siyempre kapag sunud-sunod, di ba, hindi mo matututukan?

“So, ayon, gusto ko talaga merong time na iyong isa [muna], tapos [iyong isa] naman.

“Ngayon, medyo malaki na iyong panganay, so medyo naiiwan-iwan ko na, which is sa second gusto ko gano’n [din] na may time na talagang kaming dalawa.

“Tapos kapag medyo malaki-laki na siya, ayan na, puwede na ulit [magbuntis].”

Tanya says that they are hoping to have a son the next time she gets pregnant.

“Well, siyempre gusto ni Mark ng boy, pero not anytime soon. Magpapahinga muna at magpapapayat muna ako.”

SUMMER PLANS. For now, Tanya is still busy setting up her salon, which she moved from its original branch in Metrowalk, Ortigas, to Scout Borromeo in Quezon City.
