James Yap shares his new MVP title with his son James Jr., popularly known as Bimby.

The 2012 Commissioner’s Cup Most Valuable Player was glad that his five-year-old child with ex-wife Kris Aquino was able to watch the final game of the champion series last Sunday, May 6.

On the TV coverage after game, James was excited to see little James, who was just as happy for the victory of his dad and his teammates.

“Sobrang tuwang-tuwa siya,” related James when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interviewed him during the championship party with B-Meg fans last night at the San Miguel Corporate Center in Ortigas, Mandaluyong City.

He added, “Noong nasa dugout kami, binabasa niya ako ng tubig. Kumbaga, nag-celebrate din siya.”

The 30-year-old basketball player said it was nice to have shared this moment with Bimby, who inspires him in every game.

He said, “Sobrang happy [ako], maliit pa lang siya nakikita na niya kung paano, nae-experience na niya kung paano mag-champion sa PBA.”

Does James want Bimby to be a basketball star, too?

James wished, “Sana naman maging basketball player siya, kung gusto niya.”

He clarified, however, that he would support whatever his kid wants when he grows up.

He told PEP, “Actually, ako as dad, kung ano lang ang gusto niya, susuportahan ko.

“Ayaw kong pilitin siya sa hindi naman niya gusto.”

But if he has a choice, James reiterated, “Kung ako ang papipiliin, basketball. Pero bahala siya, bahala siya.”

James will be very busy in the coming days. This week, he will be at the PBA All-Star Game in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. The season-ending Governor’s Cup will start on May 20.

He only has a few days off from basketball, and he wishes he could celebrate with his family and his son Bimby.
