Amanda Griffin-Jacob from "IT" girl to hands-on mama

Amanda's tips for new moms: "I would say, just don’t get overwhelmed. Motherhood is such an exciting time. It’s a little scary if  you’re a first-time mom. You know, you can listen to people but listen to your instincts more because I think that women’s intuition is very developed, and everyone will have an opinion. So, you know, just choose what you want to take and the rest will come naturally.”

Amanda Griffin was a model-VJ and one of Manila’s finest “IT” girls before she decided to become Mrs. Jacob.

At the awarding of BC Magazine’s most beautiful moms last June 24, at the SM Mall of Asia Atrium, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had the chance to have a quick chat with Amanda, who's six-months pregnant with her second child.

She came as a proxy for her husband David Jacob, who was chosen as one of the “Hautest Dads” this year but was in Hong Kong at the time of awarding.

After giving birth to her first child, Kieran, who is now two years old, another boy is underway.

Does she wish to have a daughter in the future?

“I do, yeah. Hopefully, the next one would be a girl,” she replied.

How many kids would she like to have?

“I want four, but my husband only wants three. So, we’ll see what the third one is. Maybe if it’s another boy I might get my wish and have four. We’ll see,” she  smiled.

FROM “IT” GIRL TO MOM. The transition from the easy-going life of an “It Girl” to motherhood with its responsibilities was an easy ride.

Amanda said, “Well, everything changes when you become a mom. But also, I think it was me getting older and maturing and my priorities obviously have shifted.

“Then, I’m just so passionate about motherhood. It was a very easy transition. I didn’t even realize it was happening."

When asked how she is as a mom, she replied, "hands-on."

She added, “I didn’t have a yaya for the first couple of months, so that’s how much I enjoy motherhood...

“And my life is so different now… I don’t go out at night much 'cause I wanna be with my son."

From her experience, how does motherhood change a person?
