Kris Aquino and husband James Yap are expecting to have a baby boy!
Kris announced yesterday in The Buzz that she had a four-dimension ultra sound last Wednesday, January 10.
"I also had a congenital scan para i-check kung okay 'yong brain, okay 'yong skull, 'yong skeleton, 'yong back," said the host of GAME K NA BA?, Kapamilya Deal Or No Deal, and The Buzz. "I'm giving birth anytime May 6 to May 10."
Kris is pregnant with her second child, her first with Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player James. James and Kris wed in civil rites in 2005. The host/actress/product-endorser has an older son, Joshua, with former live-in partner, actor Phillip Salvador.
The 35-year-old daughter of former President Corazon Aquino and the late Senator Benigno Aquino admitted that she was disappointed after finding out the baby's gender.
"When we were there [at the doctor's] parang sinasabi nung doctor, ‘O, all bets are in, eto na,'" she explained. "Ako kasi talaga na-convince ako ng lahat ng tao. Even the night before—kasi nagte-taping din ang John en Shirley—so si Maricel Soriano, Tita Susan Roces, they all told me, ‘Girl, kasi you're so pretty!' So ako naman feeling ko nga!
"'Tapos plano na ako ng plano ng mga outfit. ‘Tapos sabi ko ‘yong anak ko hindi magiging lampa like me, so magi-gymnastics, magba-ballet, maga-ice skating..."
She added, "So siyempre, di ba, noong time na ‘yon, I'll admit naiyak ako. Sabi talaga nilang lahat, ‘Why is she crying?' Iyak nang iyak nang iyak ako talaga kasi akala ko talaga girl. But nakita ko naman na super happy si James. Okay na rin. After we got home ko na lang nakuwento kay Josh na it's a boy. Sabi niya, ‘Baby James!'"
Kris revealed that she already picked out a name if the baby had been a girl—Samantha Kristina Yap or Sky for short.
"Ayun, sabi ng mom ko...kasi nung kinukuwento ko it's a boy...umiiyak ako sa phone," she said with her usual candor. "Sabi niya, ‘Ano ba! At least you have another MVP on the way so ‘wag ka na umiyak. And sinasabi nila na nafi-feel ng baby na nasa-sad ka so ‘wag ka na ma-sad.'" Last year, James took home the MVP (Most Valuable Player) award in the PBA.
"Basta healthy, in good health," asserted Kris. "And then they said, based on the scan, na two to three weeks bigger than what the baby should be, so mahaba ang legs, mahaba ang arms... so sabi ko okay na rin kasi by the time 22-23 ‘yong baby puwede na ako mag-retire, di ba? Magba-basketball na! Malaki na!"
She said candidly, "I checked nga kaagad kili-kili ko. Chineck ko lahat kung umitim. ‘Tapos sabi ko the other night kay James, ‘Babe, ang laki na ng ilong ko.' ‘Tapos sabi niya, ‘Ano ba! Narinig mo lang na boy feeling mo na lahat ng symptoms!'" Some people believe that a woman pregnant with a baby boy will experience the following symptoms: underarm darkening and nose growing bigger.
"James Carlos Yap Jr. [ang name] kasi it's James's name e. Sabi ko ayan na. Ayoko na! After this, last na! Tama na! Ang hirap. Ang hirap magbuntis, ang hirap magpalaki!" ended Kris.
