Sa pagsikat ni Andi Eigenmann, di maiiwasang mabuksan ang mga dating isyu sa kanya kung saan involved dito ang mga magulang na sina Mark Gil at Jacklyn Jose.
Nabalita before na may sama raw ng loob si Jacklyn sa ama ni Andi dahil sa di nito pagsipot sa mga ilang usapan.
Sa nakaraang presscon ng Magkaribal last Thursday, June 17, sa 14th floor ng ELJ Bldg. ng ABS-CBN, agad naming hiningan si Mark ng reaksyon tungkol dito.
"Issues a long, long time ago which were the same issues I had when Sid Lucero was still a baby. Pag sariwa ang relasyon, siyempre, ayaw ng nanay na makita ng daddy, ayaw nilang makita ng daddy ang mga anak nila, pero I always told myself naman, 'May oras naman 'yan. Pag lumaki na 'yan, hahanapin din nila ako.'
"Kahit naman noon, nagsasama-sama naman kami ni Andi, she stayed in our house the weekend. Pag may time ako, puwede rin, pag libre din si Jane [Jacklyn] on those times, but that was a long time ago. We gave each other space and I have very civil relationships with all the mothers of my children. My children, they all love each other like I did."
PROUD PAPA. Halatang proud na proud si Mark sa mga achievements ng mga anak na sina Sid Lucero at Andi Eigenmann.
"Yung kay Sid, he did it on his own. They're very, very lucky because they have parents to guide them, di tulad nung panahon namin, we were just on our own, parang we were just sown on the field and grew on our own as an actor...
"Yung kay Andi naman, maganda yung nangyari sa kanya. This is what both Jacklyn and myself wanted for her. Kung papasok lang siya sa show business, dapat mala-ganun. We did not want her to join in show business na you have to start from here, blah, blah, blah. Kung ganun lang, ayaw namin talaga. But she was given an offer on a silver platter and why not?
"I'm very, very proud. They don't call me Mark Gil anymore, they call me papa ni Agua Bendita. Stephanie, her younger sister, goes to this new school. Siyempre, kauumpisa lang ng school, and everbody calls her the sister of Andi Eigenmann."
Ibinahagi ni Mark sa amin ang advice na binibigay niya sa mga anak tungkol sa kanilang pag-arte at sa matters of the heart.
"The usual, kay Andi, sa acting nandiyan naman ang mommy niya, but basically to take care of their job, love it, don't think of money coz money will always follow, nandiyan naman 'yan. Focus on your craft, just work on the craft. Always behave kasi pag nag-misbehave ang isa parang domino, lahat tayo damay.
"Sa relationship, she's in the right age na, she's turning 20, I believe, on the 25th. She's celebrating it with her friends, kasama rin ang mga kapatid niya. When she was 15, 16, 'wag muna, 'wag muna, pero nasa edad na siya. Minsan naririnig ko naman ang mga confessions niya on TV, sa The Buzz. Kilala ko naman yung bata na tintutukoy nila, nakilala ko nung maliit pa. Natatawa na lang ako. Sabi ko naman, 'There's nothing wrong naman in falling in love, that's your right. Ang masama lang kung paano kami magre-react pag sinaktan ka. Sabagay, wala na ako diyan, nandiyan ang mga kuya at pinsan mo. Pag sinaktan ka, kawawa ang guy.'
"Si Sid naman, he's on his own na. Noong una, nagtatatanong lang siya sa akin. Pero yun, marunong makinig yun, nakuwento ko sa kanya yung craft. I make him understand the things he didn't understand. Marunong makinig yung bata and now na established na niya ang sarili niya, there's nothing for me to say anymore.
"Sabi ko lang, 'wag lang ninyo akong tularan, yung makabuntis nang maaga. But then again he's also of the right age na. Maganda naman ang mga disposiyon ng mga bata kaya they are all brought up very well."
FASHION DRAMA. Isa sa main cast ng Magkaribal, masayang ikinuwento ni Mark ang role niya sa teleserye at kung anu-ano ang dapat abangan dito.
"I play the husband of Angel Aquino, I am the father of Bea and Gretchen. Maraming dapat abangan dito. This is the first fashion novella that anyone can ever come up with, masyadong malaki ang production namin. Maraming exciting scenes dito, especially on the women's side. I also have my own moment with the family, very, very important role. What Bea mentioned, may panlalaki rin, there's so much pa. Actually nagtu-two weeks pa lang kami ng script, alam ko nang it's a heavy soap."
