Not only do the country’s top vocalists sing about love, they also speak about how we should all take care of the environment.
At the Green Freedom concert, held at the Nuvali Evolving Dockside in Sta. Rosa, Laguna on April 29, Kyla, Christian Bautista, Jed Madela, Juris and Zia Quizon joined forces to spread environmental awareness through music.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after the concert, ASAP Rocks regular, Juris, talked about how she contributes to saving the planet by creating awareness among the people around her.
“Well, [my husband and I] we always remind each other.
"Not just me, but sa ibang friends we remind na mag-segregate [ng basura] or kung puwede mong pulitin iyong [basura na makikita mo] anything, pulutin mo.”
However, she believes that beyond reminders and creating awareness, actions still speak louder than words.
“Iyong pagiging aware sa environment, saka kung paano alagaan iyong environment, feeling ko lang hindi naman nagkulang ng pagpapaalala sa atin.
“Siguro it’s up to us na lang para i-follow siya.”
What actions does she take to help save the planet?
“Definitely I’m more on segregation, like iyong mga basura natin sa bahay aayusin natin, and to conserve water.”
Another performer at the concert, Zia Quizon, also shared her simple earth-saving tricks with PEP readers.
“Well, sa bahay namin I try to recycle and I also buy locally.
“Palagi naming sinu-support iyong everything [local] kahit mas malapit [ang supermarket], kapag bumili ng food, especially kapag vegetables, sa market [ako bumibili].
“It’s better to buy locally and, you know, we support a lot of chemical-free and organic products in our house.
“We’re very keen on keeping and trying to be environment-friendly rin.”
