Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo knows too well how tough it is to feed kids with vegetables.
Everyday the actress-mom goes through discussions with her kids Yohan and Lucho about eating junk food.
“My kids love junk food, but I don't restrict them. I allow them kasi parang ganoon din, e.
“Kung hindi naman ako ang kasama nila I’m sure, one way or another, some people will give these junk foods to them, e, di ako na lang.
“Right now, si Lucho kasi doesn’t understand pa, e, but I try to add in mga veggies and fruits sa daily diet niya.
“Okay to eat French fries, okay to eat burger. Si Lucho kasi he loves pasta, he loves bread, he loves crackers, and fruits so it’s not really hard.
“But with Yohan, meron kami laging deal.
“’Okay, you want to eat French fries now?’ or ‘You want to eat ice cream now? Tomorrow you cannot eat anymore, okay?’ or ‘O, sige you ate ice cream kanina, you eat gulay naman tonight.’
“Palagi kaming may gano’n and she knows naman that one.
“She’s a good girl naman so I allow her like an ice cream for tonight before going to bed.
“Kasi pag mapilit, pag sinasabi ko sa kanya ‘That’s too much sugar hindi ka makakataulog.’
“She would say, ‘No, Mommy, it’s okay,’ so hahayaan ko siya.
“Pero pag hindi siya nakatulog at nakita ko siyang puyat kinabukasan, so siya naman iyong nagsa-suffer.
“So, binibigay ko sa kanya [iyong gusto niya] and then I let her experience kung ano iyong consequence na kapalit ng ipinilit niya.
“So, next time, naiintindihan na niya. It’s actually just a matter of good conversation with your children.”
