After their successful team-up in the late afternoon teleserye Katorse, which will end on Friday, January 8, young stars Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee will work together again on ABS-CBN's first TV offering this year, the early primetime series Tanging Yaman.
PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press cornered the young loveteam last night, January 4, at the press conference of Tanging Yaman at the 9501 restaurant of ABS-CBN. Both Erich and Enchong expressed gladness about teaming up again in this TV series.
They also agree that it was a good idea to be paired with each other again since they're personally close to one another.
Some showbiz experts say that Erich and Enchong will be one of the loveteams to watch for in 2010. However, the two Kapamilya young stars say that they still couldn't believe that people think of their team-up that way.
"Sobrang nakakagulat," commented Enchong. "Doon nga sa ASAP, kapag nila-line up ang ganito, 'leading man of 2010,' parang sabi ko, 'Huh? Ano ba 'yon?' Sabi ko, 'Grabe, nakakagulat.' Totoo 'yon, ina-absorb pa talaga namin. Even 'yong pagtanggap ng tao sa Katorse, parang, 'Wow!'"
Erich, Star Circle Quest Season 2 Grand Questor, seconded that: "Hindi po talaga namin ine-expect 'yon, sobrang overwhelming po talaga."
FROM REEL TO REAL? Since their pairing in Katorse, many believe that Erich and Enchong have become closer to each other. So, during the media conference, Enchong was asked about the real status of their relationship.
"Promise, best friends lang po kami," he replied.
In their interview together later on, Erich insisted that she's not yet romantically involved with her co-actor.
She explained, "Kami ni Enchong, hindi lang po talaga sa trabaho, napag-uusapan po namin talaga [kahit ano], very open kami sa isa't isa. I'm just happy and blessed kasi nandiyan siya and parang any time po, puwede kong pagsabihan ng kahit ano. Kung anuman ang nararamdaman ko, kung anuman ang sabihin ko sa kanya, hindi niya ako dyina-judge at nakikinig lang siya. Sobrang happy dahil nandiyan siya."
While their loveteam drew a lot of supporters from Katorse viewers, Enchong said it won't be possible yet to take his relationship with Erich to the next level.
He reasoned out, "Actually, natatakot ako na magkaroon ng more than best friends, kasi nga ang dami-daming nakakagulat na bagay sa amin ngayon. And kapag nahaluan ng something 'yon baka iba ang kalabasan. So, mas maganda ngayon na kahit may gusto kaming mangyari, siguro hanggang doon na lang muna talaga."

Los Banos, Laguna – Matinee actor Enchong Dee led De La Salle University DLSU to end its six-year drought in the men’s division of the 72nd UAAP swimming championships on Sunday at the Trace Aquatics Center.
Dee, who is a mainstay of ABS-CBN teleserye Katorse, claimed his third Most Valuable Player MVP award as he won seven golds for DLSU.
Dee ruled the 800-meter freestyle 9:14.84, 200-meter Individual Medley 2:15.42, 100-meter butterfly 57.38, 50-meter butterfly 26.37, 400-meter Individual Medley 5:01.09, 1,500-meter freestyle 17:39.69 and 200-meter butterfly 2:13.74.
Dee’s exploits accounted for 63 of DLSU’s 240 points to top the competition after falling short last season. DLSU, the runner up last season, won its first men’s swimming title since 2002.
