A man of honor and wisdom—this is how we regard our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal.

Movies have been made about the writer and patriot: Rizal sa Dapitan, which starred Albert Martinez, and Jose Rizal, depicted  by Cesar Montano.

Cesar's portrayal of the national hero won for him the Best Actor award at the Metro Manila Film Festival  in 1998.

Indeed, Rizal left a mark on the lives of the Filipino people.

But did Rizal leave a mark in the hearts and minds of some our favorite celebrities? Find out  in their answers to the question, "What do you remember most about Jose Rizal?"

Kris Bernal: Actually kasi, like, 'nung college ako nagpe-play kami. Kasi involved ako lagi sa mga theater arts club, sa mga school plays, so nagawa ko na one time yung sinulat ni Jose Rizal. [Yung] Noli Me Tangere, ako yung Maria Clara dito.

Sam Concepcion: Everyone says I'm proud to be Filipino, we like to wear it, [and] we like to say it. But I think Jose Rizal really lived it — being a Filipino. He fought for the Filipino people, [and] he fought for our country.

Alex Gonzaga: Siyempre ang walang kamatayang El Filibusterismo at Noli Me Tangere! Kasi I think buong 3^rd year tsaka 4^th year yun ang pag-aaralan mo. At during that time, natutulog ako! Pagdating ko sa college, meron na naman subject na Rizal! So parang masyado siyang, for me, most beloved and most honored hero ever.

Arci Muñoz: Ang pinaka naaalala ko sa ating pambansang bayani, siyempre yung mga sinulat niyang nobela, ang Noli Me Tangere at El Filibusterismo. Kasi yung Noli Me Tangere, nag-play ako niyan, e. Tapos ako yung gumanap na Maria Clara, so hindi ko makakalimutan yun. At siyempre yung kabayanihan naman na pinakita ni Rizal, kaya nga siya hinirang na pambansang bayani kasi hindi niya ginamitan ng dahas, e, sa sulat niya dinaan lahat. Kung baga sapak sa kanya yung sulat lang, e, sapak niya sa mga Kastila.
