Miss World-Philippines offers the biggest prizes in the history of beauty pageants in the country

So, okay na okay sa amin yun," says GMA-7 executive Wilma Galvante (left) about being the network partner of Miss World-Philippines, which is headed by Cory Quirino (right).

This is a search na isang babae ang hahanapin mo na karapat-dapat ilaban sa Miss World. And GMA is all out in supporting Cory in this endeavor," pahayag ni Ms. Wilma.

Bukod sa press and media people, dinaluhan din ang naturang launch ng maraming designers, stylists, talent scouts, at maging ng mga former title holders tulad nina Maria Isabel Lopez (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1982), Simonette delos Reyes (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1970), at Maggie Wilson-Consunji (Bb. Pilipinas-World 2007).

"Well, good. We will need all the support we can get," sagot niya.

NETWORK WAR?

So, it's their prerogative kung anong station ang gusto nilang maging partner. We're just happy na now we have Miss World-Philippines," sagot niya.

"Media partnership, so lahat ng television exposures nila.

i think this is good. Para naman pag di cla pinalad sa BB.pilipinas they can still join miss philippines-earth, pag bokya parin pwede pa i-try sa miss world-philippines. Our crazy pageant ladies have a lot of option now. hahaha But still Miss Universe is the most exciting and the most popular international pageant. Miss world should take out the text vote system para makapasok as a semi finalist. The pageant it self is getting worse every year, napaka boring. The prestige was still there but it lacks excitement and entertainment value.

I think GMA got lucky by getting the viewing contract for the tilt kasi it ushers a new era in Philippine Beauty Pageants. In a market economy, the more competitors you have, the more beneficial it becomes to consumers. Viewers have better choices as providers up their game. Tulad halimbawa sa TV stations, habang dumadami, gumaganda ang quality ng palabas kasi they are in a contest with each other. sino panalo? Di tayo. Here mga contestants naman kasi may choices na sila outside of Bb. Pilipinas at mas madadagdagan ang chance nila to win because of the new opportunities to train and to be supported by Cory's FE na international din ang reach. Kaya all in all its good. This isnt about network war.Its just the way the market works.

More awesome is the fact that Cory's company, FE, also got the franchise for Ms. World-Malaysia. Apparently, Cory's goal is to 'professionalize' the South east Asian candidates ala Venezuela for the Ms. World Tilt. I think its fantastic if that were the case kasi theyre building a training school and team supported by Ms. World directorate.Plus, they got a more transparent team kaya the girls really get the training and prizes that they won. additionally, Araneta will be forced to compete and up the level of performance and standards for her so-called charity.

Ms World is different - it has a sports event for example and is older than Ms. U because its been around since 1951. Because of the way Trump, Inc. has been handling Ms. U, the MS. World Directorate under Julia Morley decided to break away from the arrangement of giving titles under one national contest where effectively they get the second place contestants and Ms. U gets the first.Ms. world s having a change of guard and is working to get above the shadow of Ms. U by giving more prices and raising up the prestige bar.Its good kasi mas marami ang chances ng Filipina beauty queens to get to the International Stage. For example, venus can join Ms. World Phil again, get the title and work to become Ms. World, o di ba?

Do u guys remember the time when Sushmita Sen won Miss U as Miss India in Manila? That year she won Miss India contest over Aishwarya Rai.Rai however won Ms World that year too. It catapulted her to superstardom in Bollywood over Sen.Then Rai entered the international scene via modelling through the MS. World channels in Europe. Now Rai is a global celeb and a spokesperson for Longines with Kate Winslet. She is also considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. I cant think of one Ms U who has that status. But anyway, its time for MS World to get out of the shadow of Ms U, they have more contestants anyway and Donald Trump has gone bankrupt over the Ms U pageant.Ms USA for example which is a sister pageant of Ms U is now only via digital viewing, di na live.
