Sarah Lahbati has a new role to fullfill—that of celebrity advocate for Avon's Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer (KGBC) campaign.
At the campaign's launch last August 15 in Studio 7 of GMA Network, the Kapuso actress said, "Early detection is the best defense."
This she personally learned two years ago, after one of her cousins was diagnosed as having Stage 4 breast cancer.
Sarah added, "It was late when she found out, so her condition became severe."
This propelled the Starstruck alumna to help "spread awareness on the issue."
She added, "I can do this through Facebook, Twitter, and my blog, where I can tell fans that we need to know more about this disease, a number one killer of Filipino women."
"LET'S WALK THE TALK." One component of this 20-year-old campaign is a 20-day nationwide tour that aims to teach Pinays how to self-examine their breasts.
Avon Philippines President and General Manager Kanwar Nhutani said during the launch, "We want to educate them... We want to build a community where people understand the best way to fight the disease."
The tour will also feature touching stories from survivors, who are set to visit the following AVON branches—Las Piñas, from August 20 to 22; Taft, from August 27 to 29; Shaw, from September 3 to 5; EDSA, from September 10 to 12.
There will also be educational sessions in SM Cebu, from September 27 to 30, and SM Davao, from October 25 to 28.
ANNUAL WALK AND RUN. The final leg will happen on October 21, at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds— also the venue for Avon's annual walk and run.
To join the walk, simply purchase a KGBC T-shirt from an AVON lady starting September 1.

The registration fee is 500 pesos for the 5K event and 650 pesos for the 10K event.
