In the next couple of months, Vina Morales will be busy preparing for her next project, the local adaptation of Broadway musical Rock of Ages.

The singer-actress says being part of this production completes her career as a performer.

“Ito na lang talaga ang kulang,” Vina says. “At least, now I can say I’ve done everything. Ito na, at least nag-theater na ako for the first time.”

Vina is already an experienced performer but she admits that she still gets very nervous every time she talks about Rock of Ages.

“Siguro kasi masyadong mataas ang tingin ko sa theater,” Vina says.

“I’ve done several concerts, sing and dance. It’s almost the same din naman kasi ito din naman ang gagawin ko, e, sing and dance, ‘tapos acting.

“Kaya lang ‘yong level na parang, ‘Shucks, ayaw kong magkamali.’”

Although she worries about what she might do once onstage, Vina still feels excited about this new venture. She has enjoyed watching plays ever since she was a child.

She adds, “Kasi ‘yon ‘yong passion ko, e, to perform in front, onstage, and to see the reactions right away.

“So ito, it’s more of singing and dancing. Then, may interaction pa with the people. ‘Tapos ‘80s music pa, my god!

“Well, I was still young when I heard those songs, I was still a kid.

“Pero from time to time kasi hindi nawawala ‘yong mga gano’ng songs, e.

“Di ba, you go to a bar now and sometimes you request for ‘80s music, everyone’s really dancing.

“So, talagang maraming mag-e-enjoy na different stages ng mga tao.”

LEARNING FROM FELLOW ARTISTS. Another reason Vina looks forward to doing Rock of Ages is her opportunity to work with fellow singers and actors.
