Moviegoers in the ‘70s would surely remember Lotis Key.
At that time, she was very active in showbiz, doing an average of seven or eight movies a year.
She worked with the likes of Ramon Zamora+, Eddie Garcia, Tony Ferrer+, and George Estregan+.
But she became particularly close to Dolphy— who became her leading man in 11 movies, and her real-life boyfriend then.
Lotis Key now leads a quiet life in Minnesota.
But her name hit the headlines recently when ABS-CBN published a letter she wrote about the Comedy King.
Lotis described the comedian as the “sunshine of her life in those days.”
The Filipino-American beauty also mentioned, “Our big attraction was that we could both die laughing from our own jokes. Maybe that’s why he wanted us to marry.”
When PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) contacted her by e-mail, she agreed to an interview on one condition: No more questions about her old flame.
In an e-mail dated June 30, she said, “I do feel that I've said enough…”
While she values the special friendship she once shared with Dolphy, she also respects the comedian’s family.
Lotis furnished us a copy of the statement she gave GMA-7:
"I'm praying for him and apart from that, I've said what I have to say.
“To keep commenting on our past relationship, is disrespectful to his present family. It may be hurtful, and it’s certainly inconsiderate of the years they've had together, and the stress they're now going through.
“I wish them all, the peace that surpasses understanding."
