Celebrity cosmetic surgeon Vicki Belo and her family—former husband turned best friend Atom Henares, and their children Quark and Cristalle—spent their summer vacation, from March 31 to April 6, 2010 in the sun-kissed paradise island-nation of the Maldives.

"We went during Holy Week," says Cristalle Henares. "'Tapos, tumapat din siya sa birthday ko."

Cristalle, who is also the general manager of Intelligent Skin Care Inc., makers of Belo Essentials skin-care products, turned 27 on April 5, 2010. The Maldives trip was originally her idea.

"It has always been my dream to go to Maldives," she admits. "As a matter of fact, deal na namin ni Mommy noon na if Belo Essentials becomes successful after one year, dapat pupunta na kami ng Maldives. Nag-product-launch kami ng 2007, so dapat, 2008 pupunta na kami. E, naging busy, and at the same time, hindi ko pino-force 'yong issue, kasi alam ko naman na si Mommy, hindi mahilig sa beach."

Laughing, Cristalle adds: "Parang naisip ko, i-save ko na lang for my honeymoon, kung kelan man 'yon."

Doktora Vicki, however, had other ideas.

"Every year," Cristalle recalls, "kinukulit niya ako, 'Maldives tayo! Maldives tayo!' Pero alam ko naman na sinasabi lang niya 'yon dahil gusto ko, pero hindi niya talaga interest 'yon. But this year, sabi niya, 'Cristalle, I'm really serious about Maldives, let's book it na.' So, siya mismo, she found out how to get there, which is through Singapore. Siya nag-asikaso. So, natuloy na kami."

The Republic of Maldives is an island-country in the Indian Ocean, formed by a double chain of 26 atolls—an atoll being a ring-shaped coral reef enclosing a lagoon. According to the online encyclopedia Wikipedia: "The Maldives is the smallest Asian country in both population and area. With an average ground level of 1.5 meters (4 feet, 11 inches) above sea level, it is the lowest country on the planet."
