Eight years after leaving the country where she spent her childhood, Yasmien Kurdi paid Kuwait a 21-day visit from December 20, 2009 to January 10, 2010.
On top of her to-do list was, of course, bond with her dad Mohammad Ezzedine Kurdi. The First Princess of StarStruck Batch 1 related: "I was born here in the Philippines [January 25, 1989] because nag-aral si Papa ng college dito.
"But nung one year old na ako, nag-migrate na kami to Jabriya and Hawally, Kuwait. We were there during the Gulf War [August 2, 1990 to February 28, 1991]. My dad lives there but he is not Kuwaiti. Lebanese si Papa."
Next was to reunite with her relatives and grade school classmates in Jabriya Indian School, an Indian school in Kuwait that also accepts international students.
Plus, she did some sight-seeing, shopping, and a lot of eating.
Her grandma Leila Ma3mari Kurdi cooked her favorite Lebanese dish Wara3 Enab (stuffed rice covered with grape leaves)—which, according to the actress, has no local counterpart.
"Wala pong closest na Filipino food. Kasi iba po talaga ang lasa niya. Because mahirap gawin ang grape leaves dish kasi maliliit [at] saka it takes hours to steam, and masarap po talaga. Ang lola ko po ang galing gawin niyan," Yas beamed with pride.

i have to agree with u, im also here in riyadh for 8 years now, as i said wala pa naman akong na-experience na bad to arabs, meron pa sa kapwa pinay, im not sure kung bakit ganun, depende na rin talaga sa tao, if ur nice to them syempre nice din sila sayo, naku kaya hunkpapa, di naman halatang ayaw mo sa saudis kasi upto now nandito ka pa rin which means enjoy ka! just keep ur cool always! naks naman! lol
Actually, I stayed in Saudi Arabia for 6 yrsMOH Hosp and 11 years here in KuwaitPrivate Firm, so far, most of the Arabs I met are very nice, kind, and friendly...cguro out of 100 mga 1 lang ang may ugaling bad tulad ng mga nababasa ko d2.
Peace out!
Suppose you encounter 95 pleasant and well-mannered Arab Muslims you will focus on the 5 bad Arab Muslims that you met. That's how an irrational man such as yourself thinks.
It's really funny that many Filipinos are so sensitive when other nationalities or races criticize us when they do exactly the same thing.
As always, PEPsters don't disappoint me kasi dumating na sa comments section na ito ang mga rednecks ng Pilipinas.
i just want to correct u, im not married to muslim, orthodox po ang mister ko, which means christian po sya, regarding naman about sa palestinians at saudis, i never encountered bad experience yet, although ur right na kailangan palaban ka with this people but of course u have to go with flow, i really can say that im very lucky with my husband, and i can say swerte rin sya sa akin, lol!
It is not to say na lahat ng Arab Muslims are bad, but majority of them are. Especially the Palestinians and Saudis. Im here in Riyadh since 1993 working in an IT field. The thing is, ayon sa kasabihan, when ur in rome do what the romans do. Hndi pwede sa mga lahing arabo at india ang maging mabait or should I say naive.
By the way, I love arab, indian and pakistani cuisine. Parutha with sambar kung nagtitipid he he he.

Anyway, back to topic. Although masarap ang pagkain ng mga Arabs, I still find it a bit bland kaya I lean more towards Indian food kasi mas spicy at flavorful. Compare an Arab biryani to the typical Indian Biryani, mas masarap ang Indian version. Most Arabs complain that the Indian version is way too hot and spicy for them though. :

k....wink
It it like saying quot;Mostly Filipinos are non-Christiansquot; when you simply just want to say that some or a minority of Filipinos are not Christians.
