"Hindi totoo," insisted Robin Padilla's manager Betchay Vidanes when asked about the rumors that her ward's newly-signed "long-term contract" was with ABS-CBN.
The buzz erupted two weeks ago which was further intensified by the action star's upcoming movie with Toni Gonzaga under Star Cinema.
When PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked Robin last week about the status of his showbiz career, he refused to comment on whether he's remaining a Kapuso or soon become a Kapamilya (CLICK HERE to read related article).
But during the contract-signing with Jag this afternoon, October 28, at the clothing brand's office in Muntinlupa, Betchay stressed that they're currently in the middle of negotiations with GMA-7.
For Robin's part, he said: "Pelikula muna. Pelikula muna [with Star Cinema]."
THE ROOT OF THE RUMOR. Transfer rumors date back to July of this year when the news about Robin's rift with the creative team of Totoy Bato, his last TV series with GMA-7, surfaced.
Head writer Suzette Doctolero claimed in the "Seen/Scene" column of Pilipino Star Ngayon published last July 6 that the lead star took over the show's production. Here's a portion of her statement:
"Truth be told, TB [Totoy Bato] is a very frustrating show for me. Sa scripts namin, only wk 1, 2, 3, 4 and wk 6 ang nagawa nang buong-buo na di pinakialaman. The rest were all Robin's. 90 percent were his."
The following day, Bechay rebutted Doctolero's accusations. She argued that every move of Robin had the consent of senior production manager Redgie Magno.
(CLICK HERE to read related article.)
ROBIN'S NEXT PROJECT. To date, Robin said he has not made any move yet regarding his next television project.
One definite thing is his next movie, which will be produced by Star Cinema. In fact, the first day of the shooting will be on November 27.
And it's no issue to him if the succeeding project will again be with ABS-CBN's film outfit.
With young actress Bea Alonzo stating her interest to work with him, Robin said he doesn't mind working with both Toni and Bea at the same time. "Alam niyo ako, kahit lagare, puwede," he smiled.
