Kamakailan ay may mga usap-usapang kumalat na ika-cancel na ang weekly drama special ni Claudine Barretto sa GMA-7 na Claudine, dahil diumano sa hindi umaangat na ratings nito. Ang drama special ay unang proyekto ni Claudine sa GMA-7 mula nang lumipat ito mula sa ABS-CBN.
Inusisa ng PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa pamamagitan ng isang text message ang GMA Corporate Communications Department tungkol dito.
Ang karakang sagot ng GMA Corporate Communications Department sa pamamagitan pa rin ng text message: "It is not true that GMA-7's weekly drama program Claudine has been cancelled. It will run until August, completing its 16-week season, as originally scheduled. Thereafter, Ms. Claudine Barretto will be busy preparing for her new soap in the Kapuso Network.
"We would like to assure the viewers and fans of Claudine that there is no truth to this rumor, and also take this opportunity to invite them to watch the upcoming episodes every Saturday because they will definitely be pleased with the remarkable performances and stories we have lined up for them."
Sa mensahe ng GMA Corporate Communications Department, pinasinungalingan nito ang kumalat na usap-usapan tungkol sa show ni Claudine.
Marso unang umere sa Kapuso station ang Claudine, matapos na lumipat at pumirma ng kontrata noong Nobyembre ng nakaraang taon sa GMA-7 ang isa sa itinuturing na prime talents ng Star Magic at ABS-CBN.
Nagsimula ng kanyang showbiz career si Claudine sa ABS-CBN sa edad na 13 noong 1992, at naging isa sa mga pinakasikat na talent ng Dos sa loob ng labimpitong taon ng pamamalagi niya rito. Ilang buwan bago ang paglipat niya sa Siyete, bulung-bulungan na ang hindi magandang nangyayari sa pagitan nina Claudine at ng Dos, kasama na ang talent arm nitong Star Magic.
Noong nakaraang taon pa ang huling TV show ni Claudine sa ABS-CBN, ang Iisa Pa Lamang. At kahit na nakagawa ito ng guest appearance sa May Bukas Pa nitong taong ito, negatibo ang mga balitang lumabas tungkol sa relasyon ni Claudine sa TV network na nagpasikat sa kanya.
Sinabing napagod na ang network sa pambibitin diumano ng artista sa kanyang mga tapings, na nagdulot na raw ng karagdagang gastos para sa produksiyon at napakadismaya na rin daw sa mga katrabaho nitong mga artista. Bukod pa rito, napag-usapan na rin sa mga tabloids at telebisyon ang alitan nila ni Angel Locsin, na noon ay bagong lipat naman mula sa GMA-7 papuntang ABS-CBN.
Sa mga sumunod na press conferences at interviews, pinabulaanan ni Claudine ang mga usap-usapang ito.
"Alam n'yo kasi, for some reasons, bakit kasi ngayon lang naglalabasan ito?" sabi ni Claudine sa isang press conference na ginanap noon kaugnay sa kanyang weekly drama special na Claudine. "For the longest time, noong nasa kabila [ABS-CBN] naman ako, wala ka namang maririnig na ganun. Ako, kilala ko ang sarili ko. Alam ko kung ano ang kaya ko. Ano ang ginagawa ko at ano ang hindi ko ginagawa.
"And as a person, I will not lie kapag hindi ko kaya ang ipinapagawa sa akin, hindi ko gagawin. Pero bilang artista, inuuna ko talaga ang professionalism. And I really never, never do anything para makapagbigay ng sakit ng ulo sa iba. So, whatever it is, hindi ko tina-try to prove yung point ko. Kung ano lang ang ibinigay sa akin ng Diyos na talent, yun lang ang gagawin ko kasi makikita rin naman at the end of the day, malalaman din."
