Lucy has one answer every time she's asked about her life as Mrs. Richard Gomez: "No regrets." And despite the unthinkable things that have been thrown her way because she married somebody famous, Lucy says in the February 2005 issue of YES! magazine, "I still have a lot to thank for. And so little to complain about."

The famous TV host-actress then advised Lucy to confront the newspaper and check her legal options. A good two years later, Lucy (YES! February 2005 issue) said, "I told Kris I would not answer that. When I read it, it didn't sound like me, e. So I wasn't affected pa. Because it said there na I shopped with bodyguards. I never had bodyguards—not even a bodyguard."

She quoted an aunt quoting an adage to her: "For those who believe, no explanation is needed. For those who do not believe, no explanation will be enough."

She and her family ignored the rumor. The rumor grew. It also began to have several variations. It even reached the U.S. Eventually, it dragged the names of Ces Drilon and Karen Davila, supposedly as credible sources of the rumor. In January 2005, Lucy broke her silence. "I dare anyone. I challenge anyone to please squeal to me your credible sources—show me your surveillance tape, name the person who saw me do it," she said seriously.

Where the rumor came from was never traced. But Richard and Lucy were able to deduce that politics that went behind it. They did not find out the identities of their foes, but they did find out that they had a lot of friends whom they could count on in time of crisis.

Lucy as wife and mom. The mother of six-year-old Juliana stressed, "I'm content to be known as Mrs. Gomez." Then she quickly added, "All I wanted was to be a wife and a mother."

The Management graduate of the University of the Philippines preferred staying at home over working in a corporate world.

She explained that being a homemaker is a noble task, "With the privilege of being a mother and a wife come duty and responsibility, and love fuels it. There is nothing basta-basta about it."

"Motherhood makes the heart expand seven times its normal size. It teaches even the hardest heart compassion. It makes you sensitive to things happening around you such that no mother can be apathetic to or dispassionate about the plight of any suffering person," Lucy mused.

To date, Lucy is busy with three things—campaigning for her husband who is running for senator, hosting A Sweet Life, and loving Richard and Juliana the best way she can.
