Negosyante na rin pala ang young actress na si Jennylyn Mercado, ang original StarStruck Ultimate Female Survivor ng GMA-7.
Sa solo press con ni Jennylyn for Tiyanaks ng Regal Entertainment sa Imperial Palace Suites noong June 28, naikuwento nito na may business na rin siyang boutique sa Finds Department Store sa loob ng Starmall Group of Malls sa Metro Manila.
Ito ay tinawag niyang "Jen's Boutique" kung saan ang mga ibinibenta niya ay mga damit para sa kababaihan, hindi lang pambagets kundi pang-adults din. May dalawang branches na ang kanyang boutique, sa Starmall EDSA Shaw Blvd. at sa Starmall Las Piñas.
Si Jennylyn ang celebrity endorser ng Starmall Group of Malls na sinasabing pagmamay-ari ni Senator Manny Villar. Two years nang tumatakbo ang pagiging endorser ni Jen ng nasabing mall, at two years na rin pala ang kanyang boutique.
"Ako talaga ang nagde-design ng mga tinda kong damit dun," pagmamalaki ni Jennylyn. "Hilig ko kasi talaga 'yung mag-design... So, kung may time ako, nagre-research ako sa latest sa fashion sa Internet. Nagse-search din ako ng drawings, ganun.
"And siyempre, ako ang nagsu-supervise ng boutique at may mga tao o staff din ako doon. Pag may free time naman ako, ako mismo ang nagbebenta doon," dagdag pa ng young actress.
Ano naman ang natutunan niya sa pagpasok niya sa business?
"Iba ang business na ito sa showbiz. Dito sa clothing business, like pag may boutique ka, dapat catchy or impressive ang packaging o image ng boutique mo. Maganda rin dapat ang design, colors, 'yung fit, comfort, at 'yung affordable siyempre," paliwanag niya.
Sinabi rin ni Jennylyn, 100-plus pesos ang lowest price ng mga damit niya dun at nasa 500-plus pesos naman ang pinakamahal.
Aniya, may local supplier siya at inamin din niyang may malaking tulong sa business niya si Sen. Villar. Kung anong klaseng tulong ay hindi na nag-elaborate pa si Jen.
Samantala, tuloy na ang pagbiyahe ni Jen abroad sa mga susunod na linggo. Ngayong July 4 hanggang July 14 ay nasa US siya, kasama sina Marvin Agustin, Angel Locsin, at siyempre pa ang boyfriend na si Patrick Garcia.
Ito ay para sa series of premiere nights ng movie nilang Angels sa San Francisco, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, at San Diego, kung saan marami ang Filipino community.
Babalik siya sa Manila for a week and then, sa July 21-23 naman ay tuloy na rin ang kanilang variety show sa Guam with ex-boyfriend Mark Herras.
Uuwi lang sa Pinas for a day at tutulak uli patungong Hawaii naman para sa isang solo show niya for the Filipinos doon.
May premiere night ang Tiyanaks ni Jennylyn ngayong Lunes, July 2, sa SM Megamall Cinema 10, at opening na ng Mark Reyes horror film na ito sa July 4.
