What has Tiger Woods ever done for Orlando? Grin
Mike Bianchi

As a fellow Orlandoan, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Tiger Woods.

Thanks,Tiger.

For nothing.

Once again, Tiger has treated the city where he lives just like one of his many alleged mistresses. Used us. Abused us. And then callously excused us.

Tiger announced earlier this week he would make his much-ballyhooed return to golf not in Orlando at next weekend's Arnold Palmer Invitational, but at the Masters two weeks later. Yet another example of how Tiger has viewed Orlando since he moved here in 1996. We are merely his tax shelter; not his hometown.

Tiger has gotten favored treatment here by our cops, our media, even our Perkins waitresses, and this is how he thanks us. It will be the stuffy, stodgy Green Jackets at Augusta National that get to host the most eagerly anticipated sporting event in decades. It will be the TV partners of Augusta National that get the enormous ratings that will come with Tiger's return. It will be fans at Augusta National who will buy their tickets, flock to the golf course and get to witness history.

"It's a bit disappointing to all of us," Arnold Palmer told the Sentinel earlier this week when he learned Tiger would not be playing at Bay Hill this year.

It might be disappointing, but it's certainly not surprising. It's like Mike Boslet wrote in a recent column in Orlando Magazine: "The world's first billion-dollar athlete has lived amongst us for 14 years, but other than a few autographed items he's donated for silent auctions there is scant evidence of him personally giving back to the place he calls home."

How true.

I still remember during my first couple of years in Orlando, when Woods was pulling off the "Tiger Slam" and winning all of those consecutive majors, I came up with what I thought was a great idea. I suggested to then-mayor Glenda Hood that Orlando should have a parade for Woods — our greatest sports champion.

"L.A. has parades for the Lakers," I wrote then. "New York has parades for the Yankees. Guess what? We could throw a parade to beat them all. Because we are not just the home of any champion; we are the home of the greatest champion on the planet, the Master of them all."

Hood was all for the idea if I could get it arranged. "We would like nothing better than to honor Tiger, our hometown hero, with something like a parade," she said.

I then eagerly went to Woods' people with the suggestion — a parade right down Orange Avenue with floats, Mickey Mouse, ticker tape, Tiger riding in the back of a convertible, the works. And here's the response I got: "Tiger is not really interested."

It was the same arrogance Hood encountered when she once tried to give Tiger the key to the city. She said she could never get it arranged with Tiger's people.

Clearly, this city means nothing to Tiger Woods. He never has shown any interest in Orlando except as a nice, sunny place to live where he can practice golf year-around and not have to pay state income tax.

His Tiger Woods Foundation is in California. His charity golf tournament is in California. His Tiger Woods Learning Center for disadvantaged kids is in California. A second Tiger Woods Learning Center is being planned for Washington, D.C. His PGA Tour event is also in Washington, D.C. His popular and profitable TigerJam fundraising concert that collects money for his foundation and local charities is in Las Vegas.

Now juxtapose Tiger with Orlando's second-most famous athlete — the Magic's Dwight Howard, who this year alone helped raise money for kids in Parramore, bought Christmas gifts and school backpacks for underprivilege d kids throughout the community, showed up one day and helped build a playground … and on and on and on.

Other sports celebrities give to Orlando; Tiger only takes. All those other cities get Tiger's good works and all we have to remember him by is his bad publicity.

Word is Tiger's new beachside enclave on Jupiter Island is almost ready and he may soon be moving to South Florida.

That would leave Orlando with the greatest philosophical question of our time:

If Tiger Woods lives in a place for 14 years and never contributes anything tangible to the community, did he really live here at all?

Sloan still waiting to hear fate Cheesy

07:22 AM ET 03.21 | Utah Jazz coach Jerry Sloan will have to wait another day before learning of his punishment for physical contact with a referee at the end of Friday's loss at Phoenix. Sloan, the NBA's longest-tenured coach, chased down referee Michael Smith and appeared to land a forearm in his chest. After the incident, Sloan appeared to suggest that he and Smith had a history of disagreements. It is irregular for the NBA to delay issuing punishment for such an infraction, typically handing down orders before the team's next game.

James, Cavs beat Bulls 92-85 Angry

CHICAGO(AP) If indeed LeBron James decides to leave Cleveland, fans in Chicago would certainly hail The King. They certainly let out enough cheers along with those oohs and aahs as he soared around the United Center on Friday night.

James became the youngest player to score 15,000 career points, breaking Kobe Bryant 's mark by more than two years, and the Cavaliers pulled away to beat the Bulls 92-85 for their 12th win in 13 games.

Breaking that record, James said, was ''very humbling'' and the result of all the time he spends honing his game.

''I was born with a God-given gift,'' he said. ''I take full advantage of it by being able to do what I do on the basketball court. Hopefully, I can continue to stay healthy, and hopefully, I'll continue to break records.''

BISTEK PINS DOWN OWN HERO IN THEFT CHARGES  Angry
from donya victorina

Left with no other alibis, former Comedian and Quezon City Vice-Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista is now pinning all the blame on his younger brother, Hero Clarence Bautista, to vindicate himself from the case of theft filed against him.

The younger Bautista will now be facing the charges for theft after the vice mayor decided not to submit a rejoinder in relation to the case filed by his childhood friend and security chief, Carlos De Leon.

On January 25, 2010, the Bautista Brothers were charged with qualified theft in relation to the stealing of a tarpaulin printing machine owned by De Leon worth 1.2 Million Pesos.

Bistek failed to attend three of the meetings that were set at the Prosecutor’s Office despite summons sent by City Assistant Prosecutor Joselito Bacolor.

The snub prompted De Leon’s lawyer, Atty. Oliver Yuan of the Yuan and Associates Law Firm, to say that the act of the vice mayor taking his oath with another city prosecutor instead of facing the charges against him in the sala of the appointed fiscal was “unethical”.

“If it is really true that he is innocent of the accusation against him, Bistek should be man enough to face it and prove his innocence in court because this is the only venue where he could answer the complaint I filed against him. However, he is just like Clottey who keeps on hiding and afraid to face the truth,” De Leon said.

Meanwhile, De Leon also dispelled speculations that other people are involved in the case as alleged by Bistek.

“Bistek is trying to implicate other people who do not have anything to do with the case I filed against him. He should not put political color on the case because politics has nothing to do with this. I am fighting for my business, myself and my family,” De Leon added.

De Leon also denied the allegations stated in Hero’s rejoinder-affidavit where he (De Leon) allegedly admitted that the case was politically motivated.

“They should stop implicating other people, they should go to court and present all the evidences they have instead of hiding,” De Leon said.

Angry  Ouch, 4th straight win and it becomes a big news...  Wawa naman ang celtics!

Pierce, Celtics top Mavs, win fourth straight
Updated Mar 21, 2010
DALLAS (AP)

The Boston Celtics got the split they wanted with the Dallas Mavericks.

Paul Pierce scored 29 points, Rajon Rondo added 20 points and 10 rebounds, and the Celtics stretched their winning streak to four games with a 102-93 victory over the Mavericks on Saturday night.

Ray Allen had 21 points for the Celtics, beaten by the Mavericks 99-90 in Boston on Jan. 18 in their only other meeting this season.

Boston's Rasheed Wallace vowed "retribution" in the rematch, complaining after the game in January that the referees give Dallas' top scorer Dirk Nowitzki preferential treatment. Wallace refused to comment after Saturday night's game, but Rondo said the Celtics weren't dwelling on the past.

Paul Pierce drained 29 for the C's.
Tim Sharp

"We don't look at it as payback," Rondo said. "That game was over when it happened. It's a new time for us and we just needed a win."

Nowitzki had 37 points in the first meeting, but Boston's Kevin Garnett, a longtime Nowitzki nemesis, missed the game with a hyperextended right knee. Had he been healthy, Garnett would have been the primary defender on Nowitzki.

This time, Garnett and Wallace took turns guarding Nowitzki, who still went 11 for 19 from the floor and finished with 28 points.

Nowitzki had 12 points in the final quarter, but teammates were only able to provide nine more.

Garnett finished with eight points, nine rebounds and a season-high five steals.

The Celtics were coming off Friday night's 94-87 victory at Houston. The Mavericks had been off since Wednesday night's 113-106 home win over Chicago.

"They had three days off, had prep time for us, and we played last night, so to come back at the end and take the game away from them was huge for us," Boston coach Doc Rivers said.

Jason Terry added 18 points, and Shawn Marion had 16 for the Mavericks, who had won 14 of 15.

"It's frustrating," Terry said. "These are games we've been winning."

The Mavericks led by seven early in the fourth quarter, but Rondo converted layups on three straight Boston possessions down the stretch, giving the Celtics a 94-91 lead with 2:47 left.

Pierce drained a 3-pointer from the top of the key and Rondo scored on a layup to put Boston in front 99-93 with 1:18 remaining.

"Rondo was the key down the stretch," Dallas center Brendan Haywood said. "He made plays and they really fed off his energy. We didn't get the stops. We didn't do enough to

Boston went 12 for 17 from the field in the fourth quarter, with Rondo hitting all five field-goal attempts and scoring 10 points in the quarter.

"He kept getting in the lane and he hit some outside shots," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. "He's crafty and knows how to take advantage of you (defensively) favoring other guys."

Allen hit a pair of 3-pointers to help Boston open the third quarter with a 13-5 run for a 61-52 advantage.

Pierce scored eight of Boston's last 10 points in the third and the Celtics took a 73-72 edge into the fourth quarter.

NOTES: Dallas G Jose Juan Barea missed Friday's practice with an illness, but he was in uniform 24 hours later, scoring three points in 12 minutes. ... Boston has won five of the last six against Dallas. ... Both teams committed 18 turnovers.

Angry  To namang si Bynum, konting kibot, me health problem agad....
Bynum could miss two weeks
Fox Sports
Updated Mar 21, 2010

An MRI exam Saturday confirmed that the Lakers' Andrew Bynum has a strained left Achilles' tendon and not a tear, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Bynum could miss almost two weeks because of the injury he suffered Friday, and the center will be reevaluated in a week. The Lakers embark on a five-game, eight-day road trip beginning Wednesday.

"It definitely was a relief because we didn't find any tears," Bynum told the newspaper. "You never want to have that. I just have a lot of pain in that area. . . . I think I'll be all right, though. I should be good."

Bynum will wear a plastic walking boot while the injury heals.

"There's a lot of pain with it," Bynum said. "It just kind of takes a lot of pressure off."

Bynum was injured early in the third quarter Friday and did not return.

He missed 46 games in the 2007-08 season with a partial dislocation of his left knee that required off-season surgery. He was also out for 32 games last season after tearing the medial collateral ligament in his right knee.

Tiger Woods interview transcript Grin
ESPN.com
Tiger Woods Exclusive Interview
Tom Rinaldi talks with Tiger Woods.

ESPN's Tom Rinaldi interviewed Tiger Woods on Sunday in Windermere, Fla. The interview was the first one granted by the world's No. 1-ranked golfer since his Nov. 27 car accident outside his home. The following is a transcript of that interview.

Rinaldi: What's the difference between the man who left Augusta national a year ago and the one who is about to return?

Woods: A lot has transpired in my life. A lot of ugly things have happened. Things that.....I've done some pretty bad things in my life. And uh, all came to a head. But now, after treatment, going for inpatient treatment for 45 days and more outpatient treatment, I'm getting back to my old roots.

Rinaldi: For a lot of people, the spark of those bad things is Nov. 27. Early that day, what happened?

Woods: Well, it's all in the police report. Beyond that, everything's between Elin and myself and that's private.

Rinaldi: Why did you lose control of the car?

Woods: As I said ... that's between Elin and myself.

Rinaldi: If it's a private matter, why issue a public apology?

Woods: Well, I owe a lot of people an apology. I hurt a lot of people. Not just my wife. My friends, my colleagues, the public, kids who looked up to me. There were a lot of people that thought I was a different person and my actions were not according to that. That's why I had to apologize. I was so sorry for what I had done.

Rinaldi: You've said you've made transgressions . How would you, in your own words, describe the depth of your infidelity?

Woods: Well, just one is, is enough. And obviously that wasn't the case, and I've made my mistakes. And as I've said, I've hurt so many people, and so many people I have to make an amends to, and that's living a life of amends.

Rinaldi: You said you were in treatment. The simple question is, for what?

Woods: That's a private matter as well. But I can tell you what, it was tough, it was really tough to look at yourself in a light that you never want to look at yourself, that's pretty brutal.

Rinaldi: What'd you see?

Woods: I saw a person that I never thought I would ever become.

Rinaldi: Who was that?

Woods: Well, I had gotten away from my core values as I said earlier. I'd gotten away from my Buddhism. And I quit meditating. I quit doing all the things that my mom and dad had taught me. And as I said earlier in my statement, I felt entitled, and that is not how I was raised.

Rinaldi: Why not seek treatment before all of this came out?

Woods: Well, I didn't know I was that bad. I didn't know that I was that bad.

Rinaldi: How did you learn that? How did you learn it?

Woods: Stripping away denial, rationalizatio n. You strip all that away and you find the truth.

Rinaldi: How do you reconcile your behavior with your view of marriage?

Woods: That's living a life of amends and that's just working at it each and every day.

Rinaldi: Given all that's happened, what's your measure of success at Augusta?

Woods: Well, playing is one thing. I'm excited to get back and play. I'm excited to get to see the guys again. I really miss a lot of my friends out there. I miss competing. But still, I still have a lot more treatment to do, and just because I'm playing, doesn't mean I'm gonna stop going to treatment.

Rinaldi: What reception are you expecting from fans?

Woods: I don't know. I don't know. I'm a little nervous about that to be honest with you.

Rinaldi: How much do you care?

Woods: It would be nice to hear a couple claps here and there. But also hope they clap for birdies, too.

Rinaldi: Eleven months ago, here at Isleworth, I asked you, 'How well does the world know you?' What's your answer to that now?

Woods: A lot better now. I was living a life of a lie. I really was. And I was doing a lot of things, like I said, that hurt a lot of people. And stripping away denial and rationalizatio n you start coming to the truth of who you really are and that can be very ugly. But then again, when you face it and you start conquering it and you start living up to it. The strength that I feel now, I've never felt that type of strength.

Rinaldi: In the last four months, Tiger, what's been the low point?

Woods: I've had a lot of low points. Just when I didn't think it could get any lower, it got lower.

Rinaldi: An example?

Woods: When I was in treatment, out of treatment, before I went in, there were so many different low points. People I had to talk and face like my wife, like my mom.

Rinaldi: What was that moment like, either one?

Woods: They both have been brutal. They've both been very tough. Because I hurt them the most. Those are the two people in my life who I'm closest to and to say the things that I've done, truthfully to them, is ... honestly ... was ... very painful.
Rinaldi: What was your wife's reaction when you sat down and had that first conversation?

Woods: She was hurt, she was hurt. Very hurt. Shocked. Angry. And, you know, she had every right to be and I'm as disappointed as everyone else in my own behavior because I can't believe I actually did that to the people I loved.

Rinaldi: I ask this question respectfully, but of course at a distance from your family life. When you look at it now, why did you get married?

Woods: Why? Because I loved her. I loved Elin with everything I have. And that's something that makes me feel even worse, that I did this to someone I loved that much.

Rinaldi: How do you reconcile what you've done with that love?

Woods: We work at it.

Ilgauskas can sign as early as Monday Angry
Associated Press

CLEVELAND -- LeBron James hated to see Zydrunas Ilgauskas leave. He'll be one of the first to welcome him back.

"He's a good friend of mine and a great teammate," James said hours before Ilgauskas is eligible to re-sign with the Cavaliers. "If that's the case of him coming back ... I'm excited."

Ilgauskas was dealt to Washington at the NBA trade deadline as part of a three-team deal that brought Antawn Jamison and Sebastian Telfair to Cleveland. Ilgauskas' contract was subsequently bought out and he can resign with Cleveland as early as Monday.

His agent, Herb Rudoy, said he will begin negotiations with Cavaliers GM Danny Ferry immediately. Ilgauskas is in Cleveland and could rejoin the team as early as Wednesday in New Orleans. His first home game would be next Sunday against Sacramento.

"If we can reach satisfactory terms," Rudoy wrote in an e-mail to The Associated Press, "Z will return to the Cavs."

Cleveland has patched together a lineup without Ilgauskas. Shortly after the trade, Shaquille O'Neal was lost for the remainder of the regular season with a thumb injury that required surgery. That forced the Cavaliers to rotate Anderson Varejao and J.J. Hickson at center, but it has done little to slow down the best team in the league.

The Cavaliers are 11-1 without Ilgauskas and O'Neal.

"Guys have stepped up," James said. "To not have a true center, guys have played above their height and weight and everyone has gotten the job done."

Cleveland will have to make a roster move to clear room for Ilgauskas. The most vulnerable appear to be rookie Danny Green or second-year forward Darnell Jackson. Neither has played much with the veteran team and both have spent time in the NBA Development League this season.

Telfair hasn't appeared in a game since the trade and coach Mike Brown doesn't foresee that changing, but Telfair has an option for next season at nearly $3 million.

"If anyone comes in here, we'll have a roster situation we're going to have to look at," Brown said. "Once someone tells me 'Z' is coming back, I'll start to figure out who he will replace."

Clottey does not need to apologize to anyone else but himself Angry
March 22, 2010 Sports ExaminerDennis "dSource" Guillermo

Joshua Clottey isn't worried about what you think. He didn't come to Dallas to be the sacrificial lamb or the latest addition to Manny Pacquiao's highlight reel.

So if you want an apology from Clottey, you simply won't get one. What he did give though was an alibi. Clottey blamed his lackluster performance against Pacquiao to a battle with constipation. Can someone cue in the Pepto Bismol jingle please.

Listen, Clottey fought his fight. It's not as if he just went all Floyd Mayweather Jr. one night after being a career Pacquiao type of fighter.

His defense is his bread and butter. And as in the case against Miguel Cotto, Clottey will live and die with his fighting style.

Actually, I think Clottey fought a great fight had he just gone for broke in the final two or three rounds and let the chips fall where they may.

Easier said than done right? Especially when the consequences of such a decision include a possible introduction to the world of concussion. Who wants that? Clottey made it clear he sure as hell didn't.

If anything, Clottey needs to apologize to himself. He totally blew his chance of a lifetime.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who believes that he actually had a very good chance in knocking Pacquiao out with his devastating counters. In fact, aesthetically, Pacquiao looked like the loser after the fight. Clottey's mug was almost flawless while Pacquiao's right eye was swollen and he had bruises on his face which he had to cover using thick black glasses the next day when I saw him during his Thanksgiving mass.

Fortunately for Pacquiao -- an unfortunately for Clottey-- they weren't in a beauty contest; they were after all boxing.

Clottey threw away his chance at several future million dollar paydays because he simply did not want to take that risk. He was worried more about his self-preservation than finding out whether he truly can destroy the best fighter in the sport.

What if he went for the jugular in the final round when he already knew the fight was out of his reach? What if he threw all the haymakers he had left in him and had a "Say Hello to my little friend" Scareface moment? What did he have to lose? He already lost the fight right? If anything, he would've left a great impression and a solid account of himself as a fighter had he not been able to pull off a knock out.

I wonder if Clottey asks himself these same questions today.

What a shame.

Manny simply can't win against Money
March 19, 2010 PMFilipino Sports ExaminerDennis "dSource" Guillermo

They say obsession is an emotion that either drives a person to greatness or madness.

In lieu of Floyd 'Money'' Mayweather's recent assessment-- that Manny Pacquiao was "exposed" as a one-dimensional fighter-- in his recent title defense against the defensive Joshua Clottey, it is apparent that Manny simply can't win with Money... like a kid in the playground being picked on by a loudmouth punk.

No matter what Pacquiao does, Mayweather will have something negative to say about him.

Well, had Manny knocked Clottey out, Money would simply say he is on steroids. But since Clottey worried about his survival and keeping his face clean more than actually shocking the world by taking risks and go toe-to-toe against Pacquiao, the result yielded a one-sided snoozer of a fight.

Mayweather's response? Pacquiao is a one-dimensional fighter and the fight was boring. Well, ain't that ironic? Because the lat time I checked, the guy that gave Pacquiao those entertaining wars and fans the fight of the year last year when he faced Juan Diaz -- I'm talking about Juan Manuel Marquez -- Floyd managed to turn that mismatch into a one-sided slumber party. The post-fight interview was actually a lot more exciting. The smaller Marquez engaged him all night long while he was content on pot-shooting and lulling the crowd to sleep for a sure win.

I do agree that Pacquiao's fight against Clottey should fall in the category of "boring" but you can't blame any of that on Pacquiao. The man threw 100,000 punches for crying out loud! Actually it was more like 1,231 but you get the point. I don't know if they even counted the double fisted ear slap Pacquiao threw in there that garnered a hearty laugh from the 51,000 fans at the Dallas stadium.

Actually, it's hard to be two-dimensional against a guy who hardly threw any leather. So for imagine Floyd sipping on his 'Haterade' with that statement. Truth is, Clottey was the same Clottey in the latter rounds against Cotto last year that's why he was not able to win that bout.

Clottey promised to fight Pacquiao. He promised he would go to war and lay it on the line and seize his golden opportunity. Thing is he also forgot to tell all of us that he had his fingers crossed.

This was a guy who was considered as one of the best and bigger welterweights around. Floyd Sr. said he was nothing to "F" with. Going back to that Cotto fight, he left the Boricuan Bomber a bloody mess and lost a close split decision. What did Pacquiao do to him? Call him Tim Lincecum because the Filipino done pitched a shutout.
