LG Electronics intensifies Cebu marketing promotion
September 13, 2009, 1:46pm
A global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, LG officially opened last Thursday its strategic hub to further strengthen the health of its brand in Cebu and in Visayas as a whole.
Armed with a host of stylish design and smart technology products, future-focused business strategies, and strong branding and marketing activities, LG is being strategically positioned for repeated and sustainable growth and success in Cebu and the rest of the region.
“LG Cebu Branch is a clear indication of our drive to expand and cement our position as market leader especially in the Visayas,” said Raymond Hernandez, corporate marketing head of LG Electronics Philippines.
By opening its Cebu branch, Hernandez added that the company is aggressively making their presence felt in the market by engaging with and serving more LG business partners and consumers, who are always on the lookout for stylish and technologicall y-advanced products.
“We truly appreciate the trust of consumers in the Visayas towards the LG brand, we are aware that they, especially Cebuanos, are expecting a lot from our brand,” Hernandez remarked. “With our Cebu branch now in place, our customers would better experience the best in class product and customer service experiences.”
Globally, LG has become known for its refreshing brand that offers perfectly balanced “stylish design” and “smart technology” in products that fit consumers’ lifestyles.
“Here in Cebu, we want to reach the Uncompromising Seekers who never want to compromise between design and technology, but want it all,” Hernandez enthused.
Aside from being a business hub, LG Cebu Branch also operates as a service center to bring unrivalled premium customer service experience and provide support to dealers and authorized service centers in Cebu and other parts of the Visayas. Managed by highly trained experts, the center is equipped to fix or restore a wide range of LG products including televisions, home appliances, air conditioning units, and mobile handsets.
Earlier this year, LG has planned and set up several infrastructure to expand its presence in other key areas in the Philippines. Last May, the company inaugurated its Dagupan Service Center to serve its Northern Luzon customers. Moreover, three of its “first” in the country have been launched since 2nd half of this year. These include its first ever concept store at Robinsons Galleria in Mandaluyong City, its first ever mobile concept store at Cyberzone in SM Megamall, and the country’s first air conditioning academy. Investments are also underway in Mindanao as the company plans to reach more markets.
The LG Cebu Branch, located at 45 Capitol West Building, Escario cor Gil Garcia Sts, Cebu City, is the company’s fifth establishment that they have opened so far this year.
“These investment initiatives will enable LG to improve both growth and profitability in the Philippine major markets over the long-term,” Hernandez concluded. “Becoming a stronger global brand will be a natural outcome of these efforts.”

Reporter RG Cruz almost famous for Facebook comments
Manila Bulletin - Thursday, September 17
.There is potential hazard in uploading one's personal views to cyberspace.
ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz had to learn this the hard way.
Cruz is now the subject of a 'white paper' circulating within his home network. The letter lambasted Cruz for "unwarranted personal aggravation" for "attacks" that he had posted in his Facebook account against a "First Lady wannabe."
Though ordinarily, this would've been dismissed by most-and swiftly at that-the letter gained mileage recently when it was picked up by a popular broadsheet, reporting that the white paper was purportedly written by Korina Sanchez, one of the network's top anchors.
Sanchez is engaged to marry Senator Manuel "Mar" Roxas, a presidentiable who withdrew recently to give way to Senator Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
The letter writer took offense to Cruz's comment about someone "whom Cruz eventually admitted was Korina Sanchez" as a "queen in her head without a crown" and one "who would eventually be a bad spouse."
"(The comments) were as creative as creativity can many times be borne of spite and utter, utter hatred," the letter read.
The letter went on to twit Cruz's fashion sense.
Writing about Cruz's supposed affinity for wearing long coats a la "Keanu Reeves in the movie 'Matrix"' the letter writer said: "It is ability, track record, integrity, honesty, diligence, intelligence, compassion and vision that should bring an aspirant to his rightful place in history, stupid. Not long coats!"
The letter writer warned Cruz thereafter: "So to you, RG Cruz, I say, I hope that... you will, henceforth, attempt to save yourself from the very real prospect of disappearing, leaving this world without a trace, no better and even worse than when you found it."
Cruz and Sanchez were unavailable when sought by Manila Bulletin Entertainment Online.
Remarking on the issue, Bong Osorio, ABS-CBN Corporate Communications Division Head, said in a statement that they are still "looking into the issue."
Prior to the white paper incident, Sanchez was dragged into controversy when she let loose over people -- including Senator Francisco Kiko Pangilinan -- whom she felt had been critical of her beau.
Appearing as guest on a radio broadcast of friend and colleague Ted Failon, Sanchez called Pangilinan "shameless" and "(an) ingrate."
When asked about Sanchez's comments, the senator's wife, singer-actress Sharon Cuneta gave a diplomatic response.
"I feel that we, as the wives and partners of senators, shouldn't get involved in issues concerning the senators. They are intelligent and educated men and can very well resolve problems on their own...without our interference.
"We're not perfect, but the public knows my husband and I are upright people. We are certainly not known for 'betraying' our friends."

Overseas contracts processed in Cebu up in first half of year
AMID reports of job losses abroad, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) 7 posted an increase in the number of contracts processed in Cebu in the first seven months of the year compared with the same period in 2008.
As of July 2009, the government agency processed contracts for 18,119 workers, an increase from the 16,387 workers in the same period last year.
Of the number, 17,141 are land-based workers and the rest are sea-based.
For updates from around the country, follow Sun.Star on Twitter
These figures reflect a 65.2 percent accomplishment of POEA 7’s 2009 target of 27,789 workers.
POEA 7 officer-in-charge Evelia Durato attributed the increase to the presence of several authorized recruitment agencies in the province as well as to the “continued demand” of Filipino workers among firms in the Middle East countries.
“In the past five years, there has been no decrease in the number of contracts processed. And the Middle East has always been our number one labor export market,” she said.
Middle East countries-such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and United Arab Emirates-continue to post vacancies of jobs related to hotels and construction.
“Cebu is one of the preferred sources of labor because workers here generally meet employers’ criteria on attitude, quality of work and personality,” Durato said.
She also noted a returning demand for physical and occupational therapists by the US toward the end of the third quarter this year. She said this is an indication that the US Government is attentive to the needs of its health system.
Meanwhile, the POEA continues to campaign against illegal recruitment. The agency warned that illegal recruiters are now turning to the Internet for potential victims.
“Illegal recruiters tend to offer jobs with unbelievable salaries. They would immediately ask for money to be deposited.
Others would initially ask for small amounts of money over a certain period,” Durato said.
