Piolo on P1-bil question: I want to grow as an artist By Glenda Villena, For Yahoo! Southeast Asia Friday January 14, 2011 08:00 am PST Previous Post | Next Post Piolo on P1-bil question: I want to grow as an artistBy Glenda Villena, For Yahoo! Southeast Asia Friday January 14, 2011 08:00 am PST Amid reports that a number of "Kapamilya" artists are turning "Kapatid," ABS-CBN prized talent Piolo Pascual was also said to have plans of transferring to TV5.
Piolo was bombarded with questions regarding the alleged transfer plans during a press conference of his Valentine's Day concert "Piolo meets the Maestro Ryan Cayabyab" on Thursday, January 13. Although the actor has maintained that he is happy to be a "Kapamilya" artist, Piolo admits he is not closing his doors to any network for the sake of growing in the business.
Piolo disclosed that while there have not been any formal negotiations with TV5, there were "considerations" of transferring to another network.
"Wala naman hindi pa naman ako nakapunta sa compound ng TV5....There have been I think, more than negotiations, considerations, not just with TV5 even with seven (GMA-7) with anything for that matter because you want to grow in the business. So kaya sabi ko, hindi naman sa pagiging ingrato o walang utang na loob. You just wanna be able to work on things na alam mo pwede pang makapag grow sa ‘yo not just as a person but as a businessman and a showbiz personality," Piolo said.
Rumors circulated that TV5 failed to meet a P1 billion three-year contract pledge, prompting the actor to leave the negotiating table. While Piolo belied the reports, he admitted that if indeed a multi-billion offer stood, the idea could prove irresistible.
"Siyempre tao lang ako, pero sabi sa Bible kasi choose honor rather than riches. So, you have to protect your name before you be blinded by material stuff," he replied. "I'm not closing my doors to anyone pero epokrito naman ako kung sasabihin ko na ito na ako. I mean you know, we all want to spread our wings and we want to maximize whatever talents we are given so masaya po ako wala po akong problema."
Meanwhile, Yahoo! Southeast Asia interviewed Perci Intalan, TV5's head of Creative and Entertainment Production regarding the rumors about the Kapatid network's alleged interest on Piolo.
"Ganun pa rin yung statement namin eh, the doors are open din on our side and we would love to have the opportunity to work with Piolo and all the other artists in other networks. Kung saan papunta, any talks that we have, that we may have, as I said before, I haven't met him personally; we'll see how it goes. If there's one thing nga that we learned from 2010 is that we don't have to plan these things... It's all about timing eh," Intalan told Yahoo! Southeast Asia.
Although Intalan said he has not met the Kapamilya actor yet, the Kapatid executive revealed that other TV5 big bosses may have conversed with the hunk actor due to several endorsement deals.
"Ako hindi pa, pero I won't be surprised if my bosses (have talked to Piolo) kasi di ba TV5 is part of a bigger group of companies and then Piolo endorses Smart and also in the other businesses, may mga event, may ganun, so I'm sure nagkausap-usap at some point. I might be the only one that hasn't met him, I don't know. But what I do know is we haven't sat down, discussed shows or anything yet na kami. If there is an opportunity then great, I mean I did read about him saying that he's happy to be Kapamilya and we don't regard that, that's okay. Yung philosophy naman namin eh, pwede kang maging Kapamilya at Kapatid, pwede kang maging Kapuso at Kapatid," Intalan concluded.
For now, Piolo is and will remain a Kapamilya.
"I think makikita naman po sa aura ko yun, makikita naman po sa ugali ko sa attitude ko towards work so wala pong complaints, wala po akong problema sa station, wala po akong kailangan isipin tumitibay yung trabho ko kasi they've been so nice to me, they've been so gracious and maganda po yung partnership with ABS."
