Angel at Piolo grabe ang magiging lovescene

Super daring ang magiging lovescene nina Angel Locsin at Piolo Pascual sa gagawin nilang pelikula na may tentative title na Land Down Under.

Kuwento ng mga cowboy ang nasabing project nila na nagkaroon na ng story conference kahapon at sa Friday ay magsisimula na silang mag-shooting. Sa Bukidnon sila unang pupunta kung saan sila tatagal ng almost a month at after three days papahinga lang sila ng konti sa Manila saka sila didiretso na sa Australia, North territory kung saan kukunan ang outback part.

Meron din silang makakasamang Australian actor - si Brent something dahil hindi na matandaan ni Direk Rory Quintos kung anong apleyido ng Australian actor.

November 12 ang target playdate ng pelikula.

Piolo, Angel insured for ‘risky’ Star Cinema starrer

After Lobo, the ABS-CBN fantasy-adventure series, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin are set to start shooting their first movie together, Star Cinema’s Land Down Under (tentative title), which be filmed first at a ranch in Pasugong and Malaybalay, Bukidnon, and then in Darwin, Australia.

“We will fly to Bukidnon this Friday and shoot for 28 days,” said Rory B. Quintos who’s directing the movie. “Then we’ll come back, rest for three days before flying to Darwin to shoot the rest of the movie for the same number of days.”

Piolo and Angel play a cowboy/cowgirl in love.

“It’s a risky role,” admitted Angel, “so, yes, Piolo and I have been insured. It’s the first time that I am insured for a movie.”

The two have been training in horseback-riding under the guidance of couturier Vic Barba and Mikee Cojuangco.

One time, Angel fell from the saddle and that’s when she realized that she had a slipped disc all along.

“It has been a rigorous training,” added Angel who, along with Piolo, has to train with another horse in Darwin for one day before shooting starts. “We have to befriend the horse,” said Angel. “Kung hindi, baka mag-alboroto ‘yon at ihulog kami.”

Angel, and Piolo, should really be very careful. Remember how Amalia Fuentes broke her back and had to be confined to a wheelchair for months after  she fell from a horse while shooting Sampaguita Pictures’ Tulisan in the ’60s? And who will ever forget Christopher Reeve who fell from his horse and broke his spinal column?

No wonder Star Cinema has seen to it that the two stars are insured, for how much Angel wouldn’t say.

Land Down Under will be shown on Nov. 12 as the culminating feature of Star Cinema’s extended 15th-anniversary celebration.

Magsisimula nang gumiling ang camera para sa pelikulang pagsasamahan nina Piolo Pascual at Angel Locsin na may working title na Land Down Under.         
   
Aalis ang dalawang bida kasama ang direktor na si Rory Quintos bukas, Friday, para mag-shoot sa isang rancho sa Bukidnon.
   
Before leaving, humarap muna sina Piolo, Angel at Direk Rory sa entertainment press kahapon to give some info about the movie at para makapanayam na rin sila dahil matagal-tagal silang mawawala.
   
Ang naturang pelikula ay first film ni Angel sa Star Cinema kaya excited ang young actress lalo pa nga’t kukunan ang malaking bahagi ng movie sa Australia.
   
For the movie, isang buwan muna silang nag-training ni Piolo sa Manila Polo Club for horseback riding dahil kailangan ito para sa kanilang karakter.
   
Si Vic Barba ang talagang in charge sa pag-e-ensayo nila, although paminsan-minsan, binibigyan din daw sila ng tips ng equestrienne-actress na si Mikee Cojuangco.

Meaning to say, mature roles ang gagampanan nila at natural, may “super daring” na love scenes ang dalawa.
   
Bukod kina AJ Dee, Dimples Romana, Erich Gonzales, Nash Aguas at John Manalo, may makakasama rin silang Australian actor na nag-audition para sa isang papel sa pelikula.
   
Tatlong taon na raw nasa baul ng Star Cinema ang script ng proyekto tungkol sa isang cowboy community sa Bukidnon.

Star Cinema agrees to be the media partner of Piolo Pascual's self-produced indie movie

Napakaganda na naman ng katawan ni Piolo Pascual sa muli niyang pagharap sa press para sa first press con ng pinakabago niyang Star Cinema movie, kung saan makaka-partner niya si Angel Locsin. Hindi bulky at hindi slim, tamang-tama lang ang pangangatawan niya ngayon at ayon na rin sa top male star of Star Magic, nagpapayat talaga siya para sa pelikula.

"Marami kasing eksena na nagho-horseback [riding] ako so kailangan kong maging light," paliwanag ni PJ, palayaw ng aktor, sa pag-upo sa mesa namin after the hasty question-and-answer portion for the movie kanina, August 27.

Kaka-meeting niya pa lang daw with Star Magic kahapon para pag-usapan ang next TV show niya at masaya siya na next year na siya gagawa ulit.

"Mas gusto ko na kasi ang one movie a year and one show a year para nakakagawa pa ako ng ibang bagay. Sa October, in the middle of the shooting of our movie, aalis muna ako pa States for our Heartthrobs tour. Mabuti nga nagkaroon ako ng break from Lobo and this movie kaya natapos ko ang Manila," saad niya.

Manila is Piolo's third independent movie he is co-producing. Inspired from two classic local movies directed by two National Artists, Lino Brocka's Jaguar and Ishmael Bernal's Manila By Night.

Contrary to initial report, hindi pala ito twinbill kundi one whole story na mangyayari sa isang buong araw and directed by two directors—Raya Martin for the morning sequence na Manila By Night at Adolf Alix for the night sequence na Jaguar.

Hindi magkakaroon ng putol ang pelikula ngunit magkakaroon ito ng break sa gitna na kaisa-isang sequence na colored. Shot in black and white 16 mm ang buong pelikula—hindi ito digital—at ibu-blow up na lang sa 35 mm. Sa gitna ilalagay ang credits kung saan may special participation sina Iza Calzado, Jon Avila, and director Lav Diaz at ito lang ang colored sequence ng Manila.

Proud si Piolo na hindi ito basta-bastang indie movie dahil bukod nga sa film ang ginamit nila, malalaki ang mga makakasama niya na pang-big budgeted mainstream movie na rin.

"Sa Manila By Night, kasama ko si Osang [Rosanna Roces] na gumaganap na ina ko. Si William [Martinez] isinama namin dahil isa siya sa original cast ng movie, ‘tapos nandito rin si Aleck Bovick. Ako ang gaganap ng original character ni William. Sa Jaguar naman, makakasama ko sina Alessandra de Rossi, Jay Manalo, Jiro Manio, at si Anita Linda na nasa original Jaguar movie naman."

Masaya ring binalita ni Piolo na susuportahan ito ng Star Cinema at malamang na sila ang magre-release ng pelikula.

"Kinausap ko na si Tita Malou [Santos of Star Cinema] at pumayag silang maging media partner ng movie. Susuportahan daw nila talaga ang movie kaya happy ako," sabi ni Piolo.

Ang balak ni Piolo, i-submit ito sa Berlin International Film Festival next year ngunit kung hindi aabot, baka mauna muna ritong ipalabas ang pelikula. Pero definitely not November dahil ito ang playdate ng Star Cinema movie nila ni Angel kaya't malamang ay next year na rin.

Luis jealous of Piolo?

STAR Cinema hosted a lunch presscon to introduce the  first movie together of Piolo Pascual and Angel  Locsin, tentatively titled “Land Down Under” as it will be shot on location in Australia. Of course, they cannot entitle it “Australia” as Aussie director Baz Luhrmann has a new film titled exactly that, starring true blue Oz actors Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman. See, they’re all very “man-ly” there from director to actors.
   
The Piolo-Angel flick is written by Ara Badayos and directed by Rory Quintos (“Mangarap Ka,”  “Sa Aking mga Kamay.”)  Rory says they’re leaving for Bukidnon today,  to shoot the first half of the movie in Malaybalay. Then they will come back here by the last week of September to go to Darwin, Australia where they will shoot the rest of the movie in October at the northernmost tip of Oz called Northern Territory, the hottest part of the continent just above Queensland.
   
“Angel will play a worker in the Del Monte pineapple plantation in Bukidnon and Piolo is her boyfriend,” says Direk Rory whose wrist is in bandage after hurting herself while playing badminton. “But she gets engaged to this cowboy in Australia, so she has to fly there and gets to work with the Pinoy cowboys there.
   
Piolo follows her later to fight for their love.
   
This project has been with Star for three years now. There are Filipino cowboys in Australia and we’re told by Australians that Pinoy cowboys are the best. Piolo and Angel have to train how to ride on horseback and how to lasso a cattle for their roles here. It’s going to be a very physical role for both of them, but they will also have very daring love scenes. The movie is  slated to be shown on November 12. I’m glad I’m assigned this movie kasi mahilig ako sa kabayo. Angel and Piolo will be supported by Ricky Davao, Dimples Romana, AJ Dee, John Manalo and Nash Aguas, plus Aussie actors we recruited there.”
   
Piolo Pascual says he’s limiting himself to doing one soap and one movie a year. “Kasi I’m also into recording and I have to do other shows,” he explains. “Kaya nga while we’re in Australia, in the middle of our shooting, I have to leave  by mid-October to go to Europe for our ‘Heartthrobs’ concert tour ni Sam Milby. I’m happy to be able to do a movie like ‘Australia’ na pinagsamang drama, action and love story. This is my first film with Direk Rory, but on TV, we’ve worked before in ‘Esperanza’ and ‘Sa Piling Mo’.”
   
So who’d he want to be paired with next after Angel? “There’s a plan for me to do a movie with KC (Concepcion) but, you known naman, nothing is sure here. But as of now, I’m just happy to be with Angel kasi maganda naman ang naging response ng viewers sa amin in ‘Lobo’. I’m optimistic our first film together will be successful.”
   
Is it true Angel’s real life beau, Luis Manzano, got jealous after he did a number of revealing love scenes with her in “Lobo”? “I don’t think that’s true. Okay kami ni Luis. He knows we’re just doing our work. I heard nga na nagseselos din siya daw dahil very close kami ni Angel up to now. Also not true as he knows Angel and I are just the best of friends.”
   
Piolo has also just finished a new movie that pays tribute to the works of our two greatest directors: Ishmael Bernal and Lino Brocka. This is a twin bill with two different directors.
   
The first half is based on “Manila By Night” (1980) by Bernal with Piolo playing the William Martinez role in the original, directed by Raya Martin, while the second half is based on “Jaguar” by Brocka (1979) where he recreates the Phillip Salvador role, directed by Adolf Alix. He himself is co-producing both films that run for about 50 minutes each and shot in black and white using 16mm. film in authentic Manila locations like Quiapo, Binondo and Sta. Cruz. Supporting him in the movie are Rosanna Roces, Anita Linda, Iza Calzado, Angelica Panganiban, Alessandra de Rossi, Baron Geisler, Jiro Manio, Jon Avila and William Martinez.
   
“It’s very fulfilling to work with two young talented directors with very fresh ideas,” he says. “I’m grateful to Tita Malou Santos of Star Cinema for allowing me to do this movie that will help satisfy my artistic hunger. She even promised to help us release it theatrically. Our plan is to have it premiered in an international filmfest first, like the Berlinale, then show it here. If it clicks, then we’ll be inspired to make more edgy films like this one.”

SA story and press conference ng pelikula nina Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin last Wednesday, naitanong sa aktor kung totoo bang hinihiram siya ni Mother Lily Monteverde ng Regal Films para ipareha kay Marian Rivera.May tsismis kasing ito raw ang hininging kapalit ni Mother Lily sa kundisyong hindi na siya maghahabol kay Angel.

Ayon pa sa source, either Piolo or John Lloyd Cruz daw ang gusto ng Regal matriarch.

“Exclusive po ako sa Star Cinema, eh. Kapag pinahiram po. Pero nakapirma ako sa Star ng three pictures for two years. Pero depende po ’yan kay Tita Malou (Santos). Ako po, sumusunod lang sa kontrata ko,” ani Piolo.

May nagkomento na kapag pinagpareha sila ni Marian ay lalong iigting ang kumpetisyon nila ni Dingdong Dantes at say ng aktor, “No, Dingdong and I are friends. I have no issues with the guy. I actually admire him coz grabe rin naman ang pinagdaanan ni Dingdong. So, magkaroon man ng competition, it would be a healthy competition. I think both of us will benefit from it.”

Pagkatapos daw ng movie nila ni Angel ay may naka-line-up din silang pelikula ni KC Concepcion. Bukod dito, busy din siya sa kanyang iprinodyus na indie film na bagama’t natapos na nilang i-shoot, may playdate nang February, kaya magiging busy siya sa first quarter next year.

Ayon kay Piolo, dahil wala siyang masyadong ginagawa after Lobo, wala siyang inaksayang panahon at nag-shoot na ng indie film. Hindi niya namalayan, natapos na pala niya.

Ang naturang indie movie ay isang twinbill na Manila by Night at Jaguar. Nilinaw ni Piolo na hindi ito remake ng dating ipinalabas na movie, kundi retelling lang daw.

Ayaw sabihin ni Papa P. ang nagastos niya, pero madugo rin daw ang maging producer, lalo na kung napa-pack-up ang shooting dahil kinakailangan daw bayaran lahat kahit walang natrabaho.

Media partner niya ang Star Cinema sa naturang movie.

Piolo and Angel: no holds barred for their first movie team-up

After more than a month of training for horseback riding at the Manila Polo Club, Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin are off to Bukidnon this Friday, August 29, to begin filming their first movie together which has been tentatively titled Land Down Under. "We’re excited, definitely, after Lobo. This is the first time for me and Angel to do characters na malayo sa amin. And yung pagho-horseback riding ang saya eh. I always look forward to the movies that I do because iba lagi yung approach. And with Direk Rory (Quintos), you can be sure na it’s a nice movie, na hindi papabayaan. After all her critically acclaimed movies, alam naman natin how she works," said Piolo during the Star Cinema story conference yesterday, August 27.


Piolo had to learn the ways of a real cowboy since the film aims to convey the exciting yet difficult life of people working on a ranch. "Masakit at first. Actually on my first day [of training], nagkablisters ako. Nasugatan ako talaga because I didn’t know how to ride although eventually you’ll get the hang of it. So habang tumatagal mas nagugustuhan ko siya. I feel good knowing na hindi siya ganun kahirap na trabaho kasi naeenjoy ko siya," the dashing actor shared. However, he is aware that it will be a whole different experience once he actually rides a horse on the rough terrains of Bukidnon.


As for Angel, she’s also required to do horseback riding her character just works on a pineapple plantation. "Ang sarap ng feeling. Actually kahit nung nalaglag ako, sumakay ako ulit, hindi ako natakot. Awa ng Diyos wala namang nabali," stressed Angel, who’s raring to apply what she learned from Manila Polo Club. "Challenge lahat maski yung behind the scenes eh, siyempre sa Bukidnon kami magiistay, so walang glamorous types talaga. Pati sa Australia magtetent lang kami at saka sleeping bags. Kasama namin yung mga insects," she quipped.


But Angel insisted that she has no qualms despite the expected hassles while shooting the film at far-off locations. "Naexcite ako kasi hindi ako pinag-girl scout ng erpat ko eh. So feeling ko nagkacamping lang kami ‘di ba? So bonnga lang sa akin," she replied.


When prodded about their loves scenes, Angel refused to elaborate since she has yet to decide how daring her part will be. "Pinaguusapan namin ni direk. Siyempre ang movie mas special naman yan, mas iba yung atake, yung character namin mismo medyo adult. Pero siyempre hindi naman tayo gagawa ng hindi maganda ang lalabas. So tignan natin," Angel asserted. Piolo responeded in a similar vein. "Usually naman I just rely on my director eh. And as an actor I’ll just have to do my part. I don’t know what’s gonna happen. I never plan with regards to scenes like that, which is very critical, intense, and sensitive. Lagi kong pinapaubaya sa director yun."


Nevertheless, Angel believed that she and Piolo will be more comfortable this time around because they have established a good friendship while making their series Lobo. "Yes, lalo na sa mga daring scenes. Kasi si Piolo maalaga talaga. Hindi mo pagiisipan na magtetake advantage kahit na winiwish mong magtake advantage. Hindi mo pagiisipan talaga [ng masama]."


Piolo was likewise very happy with their team-up whether on- or off-camera. "Angel and I share the same passion. We love what we do, we love our craft. We’re always open for new challenges and growth. I think pareho naming mahal ang trabaho namin to the point na we’re willing to do anything to be able to give our audience something worth watching," Piolo concluded.


Land Down Under is tentatively set for a November 12 opening as the final movie in Star Cinema’s 15th anniversary movie offering.

Piolo-Angel movie a go

AFTER the blockbuster success of "A Very Special Love" and "For the First Time," Star Cinema is all set to shoot its next sure hit. Tentatively titled, "Land Down Under," the Rory Quintos movie will star "Lobo" pair Piolo Pascual and Angel Locsin.

"Land Down Under," said Quintos, is an old concept which the producers feel will fit the stars well. Its primary hook, apart from its beautiful stars, is its setting: the cowboy world of Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

Piolo and Angel play lovers. "But then she goes to the northern territory of Australia where she becomes engaged to an Australian ranch owner. Piolo arrives and they continue their romance," Direk Rory related.

After being paired in a teleserye, the director promises to show the two in a different light. "They will be more adult," she assured.

Fans will also see the two do more action scenes, as their roles entail them to learn to ride a horse, lasso and catch cattle.

Right now they are training under Vittorio "Vic" Barba, a known fashion designer and riding instructor.

"Bibili na ata ng kabayo si PJ," grinned Angel. "I’m enjoying it. Actually nalaglag ako pero sakay uli. Awa ng Diyos wala namang nabaling buto."

"Land Down Under" will bring the cast to Pasugong in Malaybalay, where they will stay for almost a month. Then they’re off to the remote Darwin in Australia. "The grocery is three hours away," said Direk Rory. "We’ll sleep in sleeping bags."

Dimples Romana, AJ Dee, Erich Gon-zales, Nash Aguas, John Manalo and Ricky Davao are also in the movie. Slated release is November 12, the culmination of Star Cinema’s 15th anniversary.

Nasa Bukidnon na ngayon sina Piolo Pascual at Angel Locsin, isang buwan silang mananatili dun para sa shooting ng una nilang pelikula, ang Land Down Under (tentatibong titulo pa lang ito).

Pagkatapos ng kanilang mga eksena sa Bukidnon ay babalik muna sila sa Maynila, ilang araw lang silang mananatili dito, pagkatapos ay lilipad na sila papuntang Australia.

Matindi ang paghahandang ginawa nina Piolo at Angel para sa pelikulang pamamahalaan ni direk Rory Quintos, sa pagte-training pa lang nila sa horseback riding ay halos sumuko na sila, hindi lang kasi basta nakakapagod yun kundi nakapanglalata at nakapanghihina talaga.

Pero kilala na naman ng publiko kung paano gumawa ng pelikula ang Star Cinema, hindi sila naghihigpit sa gastos, ibinibigay nila ang inaasahan sa kanila ng manonood.

Sa mga kuwento pa lang ni Piolo ay nakapang-iimbita nang manood at kahintay-hintay na ang pelikula nila ni Angel, kakaiba ang istorya ng kanilang proyekto, sigurado na ngayon pa lang sa takilya ang kanilang tambalan.
