Naanyayahan ang PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) sa paglulunsad ng Pure Passion, ang male scent ng Bench na nire-represent ni Piolo Pascual bilang product endorser. May katapat din itong clothing line, kaya naman kitang-kita kay Piolo nang gabing yun sa Music Hall ng SM Mall of Asia, Manila, ang sobrang kasiyahan, dahil tumugon ang Bench sa isa sa matagal na niyang pinapangarap.

WHY HE WON'T WALK THE RAMP IN HIS UNDIES. Pagkatapos ng fashion show at mini-concert na tinampukan ni Piolo, nagpaunlak ng interview ang aktor, at doon ay nilinaw niya finally kung bakit hindi na siya lumitaw pa sa Blackout underwear show ng Bench noong nakaraang buwan sa Araneta Coliseum.

"Nilinaw ko na yun, na walang intriga roon, kung yun ang inaakala nila," sabi pa ni Piolo. "When I signed up with Bench, stipulated sa contract na hindi ako basta lalabas sa underwear show, wearing just underwear, o yung tipong sexy.
 
"Kasi, based na rin yun sa personal convictions ko. Nagkataon lang kasi na kasunod niyon, itong launching ng Pure Passion. It's not mainly the reason why I wasn't part of last month's Blackout.

"Before signing the contract, personal request ko yun, na sana, hindi na ako part pa ng underwear show. Pinagbigyan naman nila at naiintindihan nila," pahayag ni Piolo.

Nagkaroon man ng intriga, it's because Piolo comes from a clean slate, so to speak, hindi na siya nakaladkad pa sa iba pang mga isyung nag-ugat sa nabanggit na event ng Bench.

"Hindi na talaga ako kumportableng rumampa nang nakahubad," sabi pa ni Piolo.

True enough. Sa Pure Passion launch, hindi nakitang nag-half-naked man lang si Piolo, samantalang ang iba pang kasama niyang male models doon ay talagang nagpakita ng kanilang mga katawan.

MOVIE WITH ANGEL. Ngayon pa lang ay inaabangan na ang matagal nang nai-press release na pelikulang gagawin nina Piolo at Angel Locsin.

"Tuloy pa rin yun, inaayos na lang ang lahat, and definitely, it will be very different from Lobo," sabi pa ng aktor. "May pagka-mature pa rin yung roles namin ni Angel. Bahala na roon ang direktor naming si Rory Quintos, kung paano ang magiging execution sa gagawing movie, if ever."

SARAH WANTS PIOLO. Pero, ang totoong mas interesting ay ang pagsasabi ni Sarah Geronimo na gusto niyang makapareha si Piolo sa isang pelikula.

"Wow, I'm flattered!" bulalas ng aktor. "Super-lakas sa takilya ang movie nila ni John Lloyd [Cruz], and she's already a box-office star, if you will look at it. Nang sabihin niya yun, ang sabi ko sa mga taga-Star Cinema, fix na our schedules. Gusto kong gumawa agad ng movie with her.

"I find her very good. Hindi lang as a singer. Very versatile. I'm very sure, maggu-grow pa siya. Given the opportunity to do a movie with her, it will be my pride and pleasure."

PIOLO'S CONVICTIONS. Going back sa isyu ng paghuhubad, tumataas ang kilay ng marami dahil all of a sudden, bakit may ganitong conviction si Piolo?

"Yeah, I did some baring before, maski sa movies, baka gawin ko pa rin 'yan. Pero, iba yung sa rampa. Hindi ko pa nagagawang rumampa nang nakahubad.

"I did ramp modelling before for Inno Sotto, pero hindi naman ako nakahubad doon. Naka-suit nga ako.

"Sa commercials, depende pa rin 'yan sa storyboard. Like sa San Mig, I have to do that, kasi, ang ini-endorse ko, sugar-free. It's not naman ramp modelling, 'di ba?" paglilinaw pa ni Piolo.

Kumalat nga kasi ang chikang magpa-pastor si Piolo dahil sa religious convictions niya. Natawa nang bahagya ang aktor tungkol dito.

"Let's see where God will take me. Pagdating sa bagay na 'yan, bahala na ang Diyos sa akin, kung ano ba ang plano niya.

"Kung saan Niya ako dalhin, I will just go there. Sa ngayon, sa mga ginagawa ko sa showbiz, I see to it na kasama ang Panginoon doon, kaya maingat ako, and I have convictions to protect, at sana, respetuhin din yun ng ibang tao," paglilinaw na lang ng aktor.

Piolo Pascual explains his decision not to join Bench fashion show

Hunky actor Piolo Pascual may have not joined the controversial Bench Blackout, but he had his own fashion show as Bench launched its newest perfume, Pure Passion, at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City yesterday, August 16.

However, before people put malice into it, Piolo would like to clarify that he did not really intend to snub the Bench Blackout because he knew he would have a fashion show of his own.
 
"Ang totoo niyan, dati pa naming ito pinaplano," explained Piolo. "Hindi ko talaga plinano na isunod. But I spoke with Mr. Ben Chan kanina and I really apologized about not joining Bench Blackout because even before I signed up with them, that was my only request."

The Bench endorser also told the media that he's not really comfortable walking on the ramp, especially if he's topless.

"Parang it's really my conviction not to join and so I didn't want to offend also. Parang I just want to... Parang mas okay na rin na wala ako sa show. Kasi from the very beginning talaga, hindi ako comfortable sa fashion show. Hindi ako comfortable na magrampa ng, siguro, nakahubad."

He added, "Never naman ako nag-ramp nang nakahubad, e. I was doing ramp for Inno Sotto and hindi naman talaga ako [nakahubad]. And with my commercials and the characters that I do, it's part of the campaign. It's not part of something na kailangan mo lang gawin just because you wanna show off."

ACTOR TURNED PRODUCER. After Lobo, Piolo is now concentrating on the independent film that he produces. The first-time producer is excited to talk about Manila, which is written by Raya Martin and Adolf Alix. It is a twinbill inspired by Lino Brocka's Jaguar and Ishmael Bernal's Manila By Night.

Piolo said that he chose to produce an independent film over a mainstream movie because he believed that it's going to be more challenging. "Gusto ko muna i-test 'yong waters sa independent films because it's more broad and it's more challenging," the actor said.

He added, "I don't wanna go head-to-head naman with Star Cinema because sila 'yong nag-groom sa akin. I believe that magkaiba naman ang market ng indie sa mainstream. And I'm exclusive with Star Cinema and I signed up for three movies in three years with them. You know, if they let me co-produce with them, well, it's good."

Piolo told the media that they're almost done shooting Manila. Based on his experience, the actor-producer learned that it wasn't easy producing a film.

"Kapag na-pack-up kami medyo malaki rin ang gastos. Pero I'm learning how to do it, to do the business," said Piolo.

Is it true that Piolo is a "kuripot" producer?

Piolo smiled and answered, "As much as possible, hindi ako [nakikialam] sa expenses. But there was a time na na-pack-up kami sa Malabon dumpsite because it was raining so hard. Also, last night, we were short because it rained again."

Despite this, Piolo just thought that it was all part of the learning experience. "Ang hirap, birth pains, because I never thought na ganun pala kahirap mag-taping kapag napa-pack-up ka. But, you know, we'd like to provide more jobs for a lot of people and kasama ng trabaho 'yon, e."
