Dingdong Dantes said his involvement in various advocacies does not mean he is planning to enter politics.
“Hindi, malayo (na pumasok sa politics). Kasi sa totoo lang, mas may freedom ako to do all this kasi binigyan ako ng pribilehiyo bilang isang aktor and as a celebrity na nagagawa ko ito on my own free will,” he told Yahhoo! Philippines OMG! during the press conference for MTV Exit on Tuesday, October 18.
Dingdong’s political ambition was brought up again since he was tapped as ambassador of MTV Exit in its campaign to prevent human trafficking and exploitation. He will also host MTV Exit's documentary titled “Enslaved.” Besides this, Dingdong is also involved in advocating youth empowerment via his YesPinoy Foundation.
Dingdong explained that these endeavors are just forms of “social commitment,” not a political stepping stone.
Besides, the 31-year-old actor said he'd rather concentrate on what he does best.
“Kumbaga, itong mga bagay na ito e, this is my social commitment. I believe naman na we're given this certain kind of responsibility for a reason. So bakit ko naman sasayangin?”
Support
How does his girlfriend Marian Rivera fit into his causes?
“She supports me in all my endeavors naman. Whenever we engage into something, we make sure that it will help us both as a couple and as an individual,” Dingdong said.
He added Marian helps him with his education advocacy.
“And she's an advocate of Red Cross as well. So, active sya sa ganun,” Dingdong shared.
Although both Kapuso stars are very busy, the couple will go on a vacation in Las Vegas next month.
“The only thing na makakapaghadla ng sa amin is kung meron kaming taping. Masaya at nagawan ng paraan,” he shared.
He said the trip won't be a grand vacation since they'll only stay there for four days. This is because Dingdong will start taping for his upcoming GMA-7 show “Sundo” tomorrow. Of course, Marian is also doing the ongoing primetime show “Amaya.”
“Sundo” will be Dingdong's return to the weekday primetime slot after “I Heart You Pare.” It will also be his reunion with “Stairway to Heaven” co-star Rhian Ramos.
Excited talaga akong bumalik sa primetime,” he said of “Sundo.”
Dingdong added, “And syempre, isa talaga sa love ko is television so di mawawala ang excitement ko.”
“Enslaved: An MTV Exit Special” will premiere on GMA News TV on November 27 at 9:55 PM.

Dingdong Dantes was chosen by the international community battling human exploitation to host Enslaved: An MTV EXIT Special which is a 30-minute documentary tackling how human trafficking persists in the local scene. As one to empower the youth and as well a supporter of education, Dingdong feels that the aims and efforts of MTV EXIT dovetail with his own advocacies. "I've always been an advocate for education and youth empowerment. If you think about it, [being one with MTV EXIT is] a combination of both. How will you empower the youth if you will not educate them?
Mark Pimentel
A staunch advocate of youth-oriented causes, Dingdong Dantes has another good reason to take some time off from his very hectic showbiz schedule.
Recently chosen as celebrity ambassador to MTV EXIT (End Exploitation and Trafficking)— an international multimedia initiative to raise awareness of and intensify the battle against human trafficking and exploitation— the actor is dedicated to involve himself in as much action as he can to forward the cause.
His first task was to host Enslaved: An MTV EXIT Special, the half-hour documentary that is the third in a 12-part series that MTV produced in Asia.
Set to premiere in the Philippines on November 27 on GMA News TV Channel at 9:55 PM, the said documentary deals with the atrocious experiences of abuse and exploitation of four human trafficking survivors in the Philippines.
"As a member of the entertainment industry may I become helpful in this campaign by enlightening those Filipinos who are not yet aware of what is happening," stated Dingdong in his speech during the MTV EXIT's formal announcement of its return to the country.
MTV EXIT began as a United Kingdom-based charity in 2004 and reached out to Asia in 2007.
The campaign held a concert in Manila, Cebu, and Davao in 2009 to increase efforts of educating Filipinos about illegal trade and human labor.
"I am sure that with the power of music, television, and multimedia per se, [MTV EXIT] can help control, if not completely eliminate these practices," imparts Dingdong.
"With MTV EXIT's powerful communication platforms, I am confident that many Filipinos, especially the youth, will be better armed to better defend themselves against these vultures through the empowering strength of education towards cultural and social awareness."
At the launch of the campaign, the actor spoke alongside honorable representative s from the Australian and United States Aid, and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima who is currently the Chair of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT).
Recent studies inform that "there are more slaves in the world today than at any other point in history." The United Nation estimates about 2.5 million traffic victims all over the globe with a majority of which coming from Asia and the Pacific.
In the Philippines, the trafficking of human beings is instigated by poverty as offenders of law exploit the most vulnerable in society- women, children, the poor, most of all, the least educated.
KNOWING IS HALF THE BATTLE. Dingdong expresses that while working on the documentary was educational, filming Enslaved empowered him to face difficult realities and enlightened him about the harsh experiences of the survivors.
"It slowly dawned on me how serious this can affect us all," says the actor.
"Sinasabi nila na human trafficking is really for the poor and siguro we know that [the victims are] mostly women and children pero... it is also rampant in men.
"It can really happen to anyone... it's really an abuse of human rights in all forms."
While the task at hand is not easy, Dingdong feels fortunate to be part of the campaign.
"Sobrang malaking challenge," he remarks.
"I've always been an advocate of education and youth empowerment... How will you empower the youth if you will not educate them?"
Dingdong strongly believes that the youth play a critical role in society. "Sila yung active sa social media... Sila yung magiging guards natin sa lahat. It's time to educate them and to make them aware of what is really happening in terms of human trafficking."
His function as an ambassador of MTV EXIT does not stop in hosting Enslaved. Dingdong plans to go around schools to distribute copies of the documentary and personally inform students and their teachers of the battle against human trafficking.
"I would personally distribute it sa lahat ng mga interested.
"Knowing is half the battle," he firmly states.
The actor is set to make an appearance at the MTV EXIT Live—a free outdoor concert which will feature local artists Parokya ni Edgar, Pupil, Ebe Dancel, and Itchyworms—on October 29 at the Mall of Asia concert grounds.

“But then itong human trafficking if you really look into it closely it involves majority kabataan. And ang objectives for this to be eliminated or to be stop, is for you to know what human trafficking is all about," dagdag niya.
Noong nakaraang taon, nahirang din si Dingdong bilang Youth Ambassador for the Arts ng National Commission for Culture and the Arts. -- FRJimenez, GMA News

"At the same time, enjoy rin ako. I'm a big fan and kasama rin ako sa concert.

Ayon pa kay Dingdong, more than the effects, ang istorya raw ang mas nakakatakot.
"That would come last. Never siyang nagiging unang priority.
Pero totoo bang first time niyang gumawa ng ganoong klaseng role?
"Well, yes, especially in the movie," sagot niya.

DINGDONG VS MARIAN?
Gaganap siya rito bilang Angel of Death.
So, okay na yun.
"And coming from a positive tandem naman sa Stairway [To Heaven], I'm looking forward to a more pretty and promising project."

DONG-YAN TANDEM.
"We're just waiting for the right timing.
"Ako naman, as long as ginagawa namin pareho ang gusto naming gawin, okay sa akin yun."
"But I know that she also grows as an individual without me around.
"And I'm always here to watch her and see her grow as an artist.
"So, I'm proud of her," pahayag ni Dingdong.
In a way, nakakatulong din daw na nami-miss nila ang isa't isa.
