GMA Network leads the call for clean and honest electionsAugus t 29, 2009, 1:48pmGMA Network initiates a grand pre-election activity that aims to promote clean and honest elections Sunday, Aug. 30 at The Bonifacio Global City.
Dubbed, “Eleksyon 2010 na, Tatakbo Ka Ba? – Hamon Para sa Kaayusan ng Pilipinas,” this run-for-a-cause assembles perceived 2010 presidential and vice presidential candidates to show their support for clean elections and good governance.
Kicking off with a 5km and 10km road race, around 5,000 participants including registered runners, incumbent politicians, sector leaders from the academe, media, telecommunicat ions, and Kapuso celebrities, are expected to grace this groundbreaking event.
Perceived candidates for President, namely, Bayani Fernando, Eduardo “Bro. Eddie” Villanueva, Eduardo Panlilio, Francis Joseph “Chiz” Escudero, Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, Grace Padaca, Jamby Madrigal, Jejomar “Jojo” Binay, John Carlos “JC” delos Reyes, Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Loren Legarda, Manuel “Manny” Villar, Manuel “Mar” Roxas, Manuel “Noli” de Castro, Mike Velarde, Nicanor “Nikki” Perlas, Richard “Dick” Gordon; and for Vice-President, namely, Kiko Pangilinan, Noynoy Aquino, and Reynaldo Puno will be asked to formally commit to clean and honest elections in an oath taking ceremony to be presided by Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chairman Jose Melo.
“This is a unique, ambitious and meaningful activity. The title can be taken figuratively. Will the Filipinos run for peace? Justice? Good leadership? Tatakbo Ka Ba para sa kapakanan ng Pilipinas?,” said GMA VP for News Programs Jessica Soho in anticipation of the event.
GMA Network Chairman, President, and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA Network EVP and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. with GMA network officers, Smart/PLDT Chairman Manuel Pangilinan, Smart/PLDT President and CEO Napoleon Nazareno, Catholic Media Network President Fr. Francis Lucas, Youth Vote Philippines Lead Convener Nathalie Jorge, Institute for Political and Electoral Reform Executive Director Mon Casiple, Ateneo School of Government Associate Dean Dennis Gonzales, PhD, will grace the event.
At the forefront of the program are GMA News and Public Affairs’ pillars Mel Tiangco, Jessica Soho, Arnold Clavio, Vicky Morales and Mike Enriquez.
Kapuso superstars and other GMA celebrities will also support the cause.
