Juan Flavier
THE farmer had a twin dream since childhood. One was to see the capital city of Manila. The other was to ride an airplane.
He was born in a remote barrio in the far south. Even just the town he had visited only twice. By hitch-hiking part way, he was able to reach the provincial capital.
But Manila was something else. That would take two days by ship and two full hours by jet plane. This was not the problem. It was the prohibitive cost of the fare which hindered him. He attempted to save money but somehow, inflation each year invariably caught up with the airfare.
Then he got married. When the children came in quick succession, his income from rice and corn farming could hardly cover their basic needs. His savings for the dream trip to Manila had to be converted to the educational fund of the growing children.
Reluctantly, he decided to give up his dream goal of his young years. To himself, he resolved the fulfillment of the trip through his children. By educating them, perhaps one of them could afford the trip someday.
He poured all his energies into farming. In his desire to earn more, he studied the most modern system of rice and corn growing. From the high yielding variety of seeds to the proper use of fertilizers and the control of pests and diseases. He was not aware but in doing so, he had produced the highest yield of rice per hectare in the whole region.
The reality came to him as a great surprise and shock. He was selected as the year's most outstanding farmer of the region in the far south. He was understandably happy. But the happiness turned to ecstatic joy when he learned the prize. He would get an all-expense paid air trip to Manila to receive his honors with other regional winners.
The farmer got the notice two months before the actual awards. It was timed on the occasion of World Food Day in October. But it was only September. The wait was agonizing.
He could not sleep thinking of the forthcoming airplane ride. He wondered how it would feel. And he imagined the sights in Manila he only heard about in the many years past. The tall buildings, the busy streets, the lights at night and all the excitement.
Days seemed not to move. Nights were stationary. Morning did not come until his weary mind got numb. He tried on his new barong tagalog heavily embroidered for the very special occasion.
A day before the trip, he was downed with excruciating pain in the right lower quadrant of his abdomen. This was followed by high fever and continuous vomiting. "Lintek na buhay (Damn life)!" he cursed. "Why are you doing this to me, God. If I miss the trip, I will never forgive you."
Against his will, he had to be hospitalized and surgically operated. When he awoke from the anesthesia, he cursed and bewailed God's cruelty.
Until he was informed of a tragedy the previous day. The airplane he was supposed to take had crashed, killing everyone on board. may nakuha ka bang aral dd??? share naman ~paru~

dd, eto ulet ako dd, nag-request kasi si amihan, kaya nag-search ulet ako kay google; sana this time, may makuha ng aral si amihan from Manila Bulletin Online; Juan Flavier Parable of the pencilTHE Pencil Maker took the pencil aside just before putting him into the box.
THE Pencil Maker took the pencil aside just before putting him into the box.
"There are five things you need to know," he told the pencil. "Before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be.
* * *
"First: Your goodness or true worth is within you. (Meaning, the black writing charcoal); "Second: You will experience painful sharpening from time to time.
"Third: With your eraser, you will be able to correct any mistakes you might make."
* * *
"Fourth: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in someones hand.
"And fifth: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark."
* * *
The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in his heart.
Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always remember the advices and practice them, and you will become the best person you can be.
* * *
One: The most important part of you will always be whats inside you your character.
Two: You will experience painful sharpening from time to time, by going through various problems and adversities, but youll need it to become a stronger person.
* * *
Three: You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.
Four: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Gods hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
* * *
And Five: On every surface you walk through, you must leave your mark. And may it be a good, not a crooked, mark!
Let us proceed, then, with our life on this earth having a meaningful purpose in our heart.ano dd, happy ka na ba sa mga na-share ko ~paru~

dd, eto na naman ako, spamming na ba ko parang related tong next share ko sa spamming, pero di ako sure eto dd sana mapahagalpak ka
By the time the morning service was to begin, only one man, a farmer, was in the church. The priest said to him, "It looks like everyone has over-slept. Do you want to go home or should I preach the sermon?"
The farmer replied, "When I go to feed the chickens and only one comes, I still feed it."
The priest took that as a yes, mounted the pulpit and delivered an hour-long sermon. At the end, he asked the man what he thought, his answer: "When I go to feed the chickens and only one comes, I dont give it the whole drum of feed!"
* * *
Did you hear about the comedian who incorporated himself? He became a laughing stock.
* * *
How will you spend eternity in the Smoking Area (Hell) or Non-Smoking (Heaven)?
* * *
Looking at the way some people live, they ought to obtain eternal fire insurance. ano dd? spamming ba ko? ~paru~
