After grabbing the microphone and belting alongside illustrious
recording superstars, six non-singing celebrities continue their musical run in
GMA-7's reality competition, Celebrity Duets 2.
Following the elimination of model-turned-actress Melanie Marquez and lifestyle guru Cory Quirino, Celebrity Duets 2 announced a non-elimination night last Saturday, September 21, as the remaining six contenders deliver their spectacular show in front of the judges and the viewers. All six contestants—MMDA chairman Bayani Fernando, fashion designer JC Buendia, actor-politician Joey Marquez, Chef JL Cang, professional soccer player Phil Younghusband, and beauty queen Carlene Aguilar—will all move on to the next round of weekly elimination nights and prove that they can carry a tune. The votes last week will be carried over to the next episode this Saturday, September 27.
Each of the non-singer contenders will head out on stage once more and join their professional partner for a live duet accompanied by their knocking choreography and banging stage presence. The panel of judges, composed of veteran concert and theatre director Freddie Santos, renowned composer and arranger Danny Tan, and reigning Celebrity Duets' first grand winner, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, will review their performances and offer feedback to the celebrities.
Hosted by the Asia's Songbird Regine Velasquez and singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, the fate of the contestants depend on the viewing public who will determine through text votes whether or not they should stay in the competition. After the votes are verified, the celebrity with the least votes will have to end his/her Celebrity Duets journey.
The Celebrity Duets finale will benefit the chosen charity of the winner.
