Since airing their pilot episode on October 11, the seven
girls of Banana Split have been having a grand time with their male
guests. Every week, Roxanne Guinoo, Angelica Panganiban, Valerie Concepcion,
Cristine Reyes, Dianne Medina, Princess Ryan, and RR Enriquez have sexy dance
numbers in between the comedy sketches that they do for the show.
So far, they have shown the episodes starring Zanjoe Marudo,
John Lloyd Cruz, Gabby Concepcion, and Diether Ocampo. Last week, Anne Curtis
and Kristine Hermosa (who was originally part of the show) agreed to banter
with Diether for several sketches. The matinee idol even shot one segment
wherein he "accidentally" walked into the dressing room where the female stars
were half-naked.
In keeping with the tradition of Goin' Bananas, the show also pulls several practical jokes on its guests. In fact, when Gabby was the guest on the show, they hired a Sharon Cuneta impersonator to sing a song for the matinee idol. Gabby gamely faced the impersonator of his ex-wife and said, "May sasabihin ako sa 'yo, miss na kita!"
This time, former couple Roxanne and Jake Cuenca will have to deal with their own issues as they appear on the November 8 episode of Banana Split. In the trailer of the show aired last Saturday, a teary-eyed Roxanne declared on air that she did not want to tape the show with ex-beau Jake. "Ayoko na sumama dito kasi parang nababastos ako. Direk Bob [Bobot Mortiz], kinausap na kita tungkol dito."
Her Banana Split co-hosts comfort her while a shocked Jake could only exclaim, "Seryoso ba ‘to?" The two former lovers have been in the news recently because of allegations that they had a "violent" confrontation during their show in Guam.
The recent trailer gives rise to the question: did Roxanne really mean what she said about not working with her former boyfriend or is it all just a gag?
Find out when Banana Split airs this Saturday, November 8, after Maalaala Mo Kaya on ABS-CBN.
