Brillante Ma. Mendoza's Tirador (international title: Slingshot) is now available on VCD and DVD formats. This indie film is the recipient of 5 Urian awards: Best Picture, Director (Direk Dante), Supporting Actress (Angela Ruiz), Cinematography (Dante, Julius Villanueva, Gary Tria and Jeffrey dela Cruz) and Sound (Ditoy Aguila and Junel Valencia).
Tirador had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival premiere last year has been shown in more than 30 international film festivals.
It also won several international awards including a Special Jury Award from Marrakech, the Caligari Prize Award from Berlin and Best Film, Director and Netpac Awards from Singapore.
Editor Charliebebs Gohetia was nominated as Best Editor in the Asian Film Awards held in Hong Kong last March.
Tirador is slated to open theatrically in the United Kingdom early next year. It has been acquired for United Kingdom/Ireland by Pecadillo Pictures.
Aside from Angela, Tirador features Jiro Manio, Coco Martin, Kristoffer King, Nathan Lopez with the special participation of Julio Diaz and Ms. Jaclyn Jose.
Produced by Ferdinand Lapuz for Centerstage productions, Tirador was written by Ralston Joel Jover with Armando Lao as creative consultant.
