Jericho Rosales is almost done with his first music album to be released under
Star Records. The singer-actor signed a recording deal with the company last April 2009.
In his photo shoot for the album cover held last week, Jericho said that their just polishing some of the songs that were included in the album and they're ready to release it by July or August.
He also narrated how this would be very different from his first CD, which is a self-titled album under EMI Philippines [now known as PolyEast Records].
"It's a guitar-driven album," he described. "Not really acoustic but more of, nag-concentrate sa gitara. Ang isa ring catch nito, per track, iba't ibang gitarista na mga kaibigan ko. 'Yong first track na ginawa namin was with Jack Rufo and he also arranged the song that we did. Si Spy, o si Mon Espiya, Sir Ric Mercado from ASAP."
Aside from including his guitarist friends, Echo also worked with
different music arrangers to complete the album, whose title is still under wraps.
"I'm gonna be working with different arrangers din kasi. This time I might work with Gab Valenciano, Jonathan Manalo. You know, from new arrangers to mga beterano na na mga arrangers, Mike Villegas, marami pa akong makakasama. 'Yong ibang tracks na-set na namin, yung iba, pinipili pa namin," he said.
Echo, as he is often called in showbiz, said that he is fortunate to able to go back to one of his passions—creating music—while continuing his acting career.
In fact, he said, "Everytime I go to the studio, sobrang
enjoy ako, di ba? I really don't mind
staying sa studio ng isang buong araw, di ba?
So, we start recording after lunch.
'Tapos stay kami doon hanggang after dinner. Hanggang gabi, babaran kami sa mga idea. I really enjoy staying sa studio to record
music.
"Ngayong tapos na ang stage ng... Kasi nag-invest ako ng time sa music, di ba? Then, nag-stop. So ngayon, ang sarap ng feeling na medyo balanse na ang music at saka acting, medyo sabay na sila. 'Yon nga lang medyo matakaw sa oras. Okay lang, nag-e-enjoy naman ako."
For this album, Echo said that three or four of his personal compositions will be included. Where does he get his inspiration in composing songs?
The 29-year-old TV and music personality said he based it on his personal experiences. He pointed out, "Kasi kapag nagko-compose ako ng kanta, I get inspirations from my own experiences, minsan sa ibang tao. Parang I put myself in their shoes, then, parang I start writing na. Just like this morning, I wrote two Tagalog songs. I don't know nga where to put them, e. But, you know, Star Records gave me an idea nga na maybe I can write for other people, too."
Echo was very wary sharing details of his upcoming album. He simply said, "Maraming love songs, maraming inspirational. Basically, it's all positive and not angry, you know. From positive to happy to medyo sumusundot ng damdamin. Parang ganun, but it all based on real emotion and feelings."
