Kris Bernal welcomes the opportunity to star in the latest installment of GMA-7's Sunday romantic-drama program, Lovebug.
The young actress cited her previous projects like Dapat Ka Bang Mahalin? All My Life and Last Prince as all certified tearjerkers.
"Lahat heavy drama talaga and lagi akong pinapaiyak," Kris told the entertainment media last June 15 at the Executive Lounge of the GMA Network Center in Quezon City.
"Dito sa episode namin sa Lovebug, hindi siya masyadong heavy drama. Kumbaga pampakilig lang talaga so mas magaan naman 'to ngayon," continued the pretty young actress.
"Wish Come True" is the newest offering of Lovebug following its successful debut titled "The Last Romance" featuring Carla Abellana and Dennis Trillo.
And just like its predecessor, "Wish Come True" gives its female lead star the opportunity to work with a new leading man in the person of Brazilian-Japanese model Daniel Matsunaga. The two had previously worked together in the Last Prince, where Daniel had a short stint.
Kris commended Daniel's professionalism and work ethic in learning the Filipino language. She also described the hunky model-actor as a "gentleman" and a "thoughtful" co-star.
"She's beautiful," Daniel, on the other hand, said about Kris. "Every time we work together there's always something new and it's always a challenge."
LOVE IN SINGAPORE. "Wish Come True" follows the story of a simple woman named Gella (Kris). She gets to fulfill her longtime wish to pursue a career in Singapore and meet her ultimate crush, Brazilian model Raoul Del Rosario (Daniel Matsunaga).
Gella lands a job as an assistant photographer. The young hopeless romantic gets thrilled when she learns that Raoul will be present in one of their photo shoots.
Determined and desperate to catch her crush's attention, the young assistant resorts to crazy antics just to make a knockout impression. Unfortunately and much to her dismay, Raoul is in love to Filipina supermodel Isabel (Rich Asuncion).
On her way home, she bumps into Raoul who is drunk-chasing Isabel. Intoxicated, Raoul thinks Gella was Isabel and instantly, they share an accidental kiss.
Raoul is bent on wooing the supermodel so he hires Gella as his Filipino teacher. Gella agrees to his plan so she can bond with Raoul and secretly tries to sabotage all of his courtship and dating plans with Isabel.
Gella's efforts, however, ended up in vain as Raoul and Isabel become involved a relationship.
The heartbroken assistant then warns Raoul of Isabel's illicit affair with a Singaporean model named Henrique Soriano. Gella was fired from her work after she was accused of spreading false rumors about Isabel. A broken hearted Gella returns to Manila to mend her wounds.
Will Raoul ever realize that it is Gella he should be offering his heart to before it's too late? Will he chase a love that could be in Manila? Will Gella find true happiness in the arms of a mesmerizing Brazilian model?
Catch the first part of Lovebug's "Wish Come True" this coming Sunday, June 20, right after Party Pilipinas on GMA-7.
