I-Witness marks 12th anniversary by airing docus about Filipinos' struggles with basic necessities

I-Witness host Jay Taruc stuggles for clean water like residents in Camarines Norte
Published Aug 14, 2011

PRESS STATEMENT FROM GMA-7:

"Last week, I-Witness premiered its anniversary series "Sa Piling ng Wala." Four veteran documentarists experience life without the most basic necessities--food, water, shelter and clothing. Last Monday, host Sandra Aguinaldo followed the struggles of a family in Samar , hour by hour, as they scoured for the next meal. This week, I-Witness host Jay Taruc documents the realities faced by families without water.

"As part of the continuing celebration of the 12th anniversary of I-Witness, Taruc immerses in a community where getting clean water is a difficult daily battle. In Oliva, Camarines Norte, a waterless barangay in the Philippines, at least a thousand people rely on a hilltop well as the main source of clean water. But the well is fast drying up, forcing people to make do with unsafe drinking water.

"Jay Taruc and his team document what it's like to fight for every drop in "Uhaw." Don't miss I-Witness, this Monday, after Saksi, on GMA-7."
