It was a one of a kind experience for Rez Toledo, or popularly known as Someday Dream, to perform for a large crowd.
He was one of the guest performers for Myx Mo 2011 that was held last November 24 at the Marikina Sports Park, in Marikina City. (CLICK HERE to view photos taken during the event)
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other entertainment press got the chance to interview Rez during his album launch held last November 29 at Club Phi in Metrowalk, Ortigas, Pasig City.
He mentioned that his team really worked hard to make that performance memorable for the crowd.
"Talagang we were thinking how to make a mark on that show--we invited dancers, we thought of putting on lots of lights, balloons and some surprise.
"So, it was really great, ang ganda ng reaction ng mga tao."
Having experienced that, the 21-year-old electronic pop artist would like to do live performances more often.
"In my examination, it is really to give more effort in live shows, definitely," he explained.
"I mean, the problem really is people don't buy [albums] because they just download it. So, the way to fight that is you know, to produce better shows, better live shows."
ICE CREAM COMMERCIAL. Just recently, Rez's song "Hey Daydreamer" was used in an ice cream commercial.
The young artist considers this to be a dream come true.
"It was one of my biggest dreams ever, to be a part of a commercial," he said.
"I'm not actually in it pero my song is, and I really like the commercial because it's about the song. Ayon, maganda ang nangyari and a lot of people liked the song."
He believes it's perfect timing to have his hit single used in a commercial since he just released his first album.
"It's gonna help, definitely," he said with a smile.
"Kasi we're into spreading the music first, and the Cornetto commercial, actually when we met up with their people we're all very excited about it.
"I feel very honored that my song was chosen for that. So, a lot of people are discovering that song, so it's really good."
HIS ALBUM. Someday Dream, Rez's screen name, is the title of his album produced by Mecca Music and MCA Music.
It contains seven self-composed songs, which he said are based on his personal experiences.
"In 1st year college everything was new--I had new friends, I had new experiences," he relates.
"Hindi ko naman kinakahiya na personal experiences 'yon talaga, siguro I just draw inspirations from personal stuff, and my art reflects who I am."
When asked for the reaction of listeners to this kind of music, Rez thinks that the electronic pop music genre has been here in the country for quite some time now, but people haven't been paying much attention to it.
Electronic pop or Synthpop music are songs wherein synthesizers or electronic instruements were dominantly used in creating the music.
"I think I start really well," he remarked.
"I think electronic [pop] music has been here in the country for a long time, 'yon nga [lang] it's just really hard to get noticed.
"[But], we really try our best to reach the target audience for this type of music. Siyempre, we do it online, sa radio din we try to share about this music."
What is his hope for the country's music industry? "For more [musicians] to pop out, not necessarily electronic [pop musicians], even rock bands or balladeers.
"Kasi it's kinda lonely na, like when I'm with other artists sila na 'yong idol ko since before, and sometimes lang it gets kinda lonely that I'm alone."
