Vice Ganda will co-star with Kris Aquino in Sisteraka, one of the films competing in the 38th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
Kris previously announced on her Kris TV morning show that Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo will also be part of this movie co-produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films.
Vice Ganda told PEP.ph that he is excited to be part of Sisteraka since it marks his first time to join the film festival traditionally held during the Christmas season.
“Siyempre first film fest ko ‘to, eh. Noon pa yun, sabi ko gusto ko makasakay sa float, yung mga ganun, yung mga simpleng ganun. Dati nga and dream ko parang gusto ko maging bahagi ng isang Shake Rattle and Roll, yung mga ganun, yung mga simple lang. Parang nakaka-artista.”
In this upcoming MMFF entry, Kris will be veering away from the horror genre that she became famous for.
“Comedy ito, hindi magho-horror si Kris, comedy yung Sisteraka,” pointed out the resident judge of It’s Showtime.
Kris has been dubbed as the Queen of Horror after starring in a string of suspense-thrillers that became box-office hits such as Feng Shui (2004) and Sukob (2006).
It will be recalled that Kris last appeared in a comedy flick in 2004 for So Happy Together, wherein she co-starred with Eric Quizon, Tonton Gutierrez, and Gloria Diaz.
Vice Ganda also disclosed that Kris has no hesitations doing slapstick comedy for their upcoming movie.
“Oo, sabi niya, ‘balahurin mo ako.’ Gustong-gusto niyang balahurin ko siya. ‘Barbie-hin mo ako, itulak-tulak mo ako,’ sabi niyang ganun. Happy siya.”
Given their closeness off-cam, Vice Ganda believes their familiarity with each other will help him perform well with Kris.
“As co-workers, okay naman kami. Okay naman kasi kasi were friends. Actually, we’re really good friends. Asawa na ang turingan naming dalawa, kaya di kami nahihiya. Di ako hesitant na lokohin siya kasi malalim pinagsamahan naming dalawa.”
