"Kinakabahan ako!"

This was what the media heard from Anne Curtis, who was positioned behind the audience seats of Dolphy Theater last Wednesday, June 24.  The actress took part in a short skit that was part of the grand press conference of The Wedding.

Moments later, the entertainment media witnessed Anne—dressed in a Francis Libiran wedding gown—walking down the aisle to meet her two grooms on the show: Derek Ramsay and Zanjoe Marudo.

The 24-year-old actress said that she screamed because she felt nervous, as if it she were really attending her own wedding.  

She further described, "'Yon na nga po noong inaayos na 'yong gown, nilagay na 'yong belo sa akin, [takes a deep breath] parang sabi ko, ‘Wait lang, hindi naman totoo ito.'  Pero 'yon talaga ang feeling, I really felt like a bride.  I was nervous, nanlalamig 'yong kamay ko kahit na alam ko na hindi naman sa real life.  Pero the moment I put on the dress, and the veil, hawak ko na 'yong bouquet, it's almost real.  'Yon ang naramdaman ko."

For Anne, playing the role of the bride named Candice in The Wedding was something really new for her.  She told the media, "I like the story and I thought parang it's easy to work and nae-excite nga ako sa character ko din.  It's different from Dyosa, it's different from Maging Sino Ka Man.  I'm happy to do it, no regrets talaga."

Anne admitted that although her new primetime series was exciting for her to do, it also put a pressure on her whether the televiewers would like this original wedding series of ABS-CBN. 

"Siyempre there's pressure kasi we also don't know kung mae-enjoy ng viewers ang show.  But I think all the cast, masasabi naming lahat na we did our best here in the show.  Siyempre, may pressure pa rin but we're just hoping for the best," she said.

She also hoped that the viewers would like the show since it's not really heavy drama.  Anne added, "'Yong show naman po namin is safe for the kids, it's a family show, very light and charming.  It's a pure love story na sa tingin ko naman na people will appreciate also."

The young actress did not think that her character would make her look more mature.  She explained, "Sa tingin ko naman hindi kami magtse-change because it's not even that mature in that sense.  'Yong character dito is who I am already so I think I will be able to grow up with her."

The Wedding is about a rich girl named Candice (Anne), who always dreams of having a perfect wedding with her childhood crush Warren (played by Derek).  However, he had to leave for the States.  Candice never gave up on her dream until she found out that her parents (played by Michael de Mesa and Eula Valdes) are already planning to separate.  Candice wants to do everything to keep her parents together so she decided to get engaged with someone whom she knows her parents will never approve of.  So, she agreed to get married with Marlon (played by Zanjoe), a construction worker in Candice's family's construction firm.

The conflict comes when Warren comes back to fulfill his promise to Candice.  The young lady is now torn between two grooms.

"I believe and I'm very confident with our material," says Business Unit Head Raymund Dizon.  Aside from it being an original, kapag pinanood ninyo siya, hindi ninyo siya bibitawan."

He continued, "That's what happened sa management, e.  They watched it the first day, they previewed it [nang] diretso, walang bitaw.  When they previewed it, kahit sila, they [management] were really confident sa material.  I believe, kayo rin, you'll be proud na one hundred percent Filipino ito.  Aakalain lang mo nga when you watch it, parang, ‘Hango ba ito sa isang Koreanovela?'  It's not, it's original.  So, I'm very confident to produce."
