The theme for the 10th Cine Europa is "Unity in diversity," according to Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Commission to the Philippines Alistair MacDonald. The annual film fest, which started in September 1998, screens critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies from member countries of the European Union.

Cine Europa 10 kicked off in the Queen City of the South—Cebu. This year's festival is doubly significant not only because this is the tenth year of Cine Europa, but also due to the celebration of the 50th year of the Treaties of Rome.

Viewers will be able to experience the magic of film once more and the charm, grandeur, diversity and uniqueness of the culture and heritage of the European Union. From Summer in Berlin to United Kingdom's Shakespeare classic Taming of the Shrew to Hungary's Just Sex and Nothing Else, this year's Cine Europa promises to be bigger and better with films coming from Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Cine Europa was presented by the European Union, the Arts Council of Cebu Foundation Inc. and the Ayala Cinemas.

Free admission.
