The sexy film Butas, starring Allen Dizon, Gwen Garci, and Marco Morales, has already passed the standards of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board. It received a rating of R18 and it will be shown in cinemas nationwide starting January 28, 2009.
Directed by Bong Ramos, Butas (Loophole) involves a sex video that may contain clues to the death of a young man. In the film, an exhibitionist named Virgo (Marco Morales) is brutally killed. Jake (Allen Dizon) admits to committing the crime. He says that he did this crime of passion because he learned that Virgo is the lover of his wife Maya (Gwen Garci). However, there are still loopholes to Jake's version of the truth. Sometimes, seeing is not always believing.
In the director's cut of Butas shown in the University of the Philippines Videotheque last week, there were frontal nudity scenes from both Gwen and Marco. In fact, the former member of the all-male group called the Showboys reportedly had 12 scenes showing off his private parts.
In a text message sent to PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Dennis Evangelista adds, "Na-move po ang showing dahil sa date na ito [January 28], makakakuha ng mas maraming sinehan." They originally planned to screen the film on January 22.
Butas (Loophole) will be screened in select theaters starting January 28, 2009. The venues include: Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Ermita, Robinsons Iloilo, Gotesco Grand Central, Isetann Cinerama, Gotesco Commonwealth, ABC Theater Makati, and Cebu Vistarama.
Once you get past the much-ballyhooed sex scenes, you'll be pleasantly surprised that BUTAS is actually a FINELY-MADE FILM. It is megged by the director of the critically-acclaimed HAW-ANG, Bong Ramos. And I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that Gwen Garci can really act. Good job, guys.
