Cinema One Originals' winning film UPCAT screens at the Indiesine of  Robinsons Galleria from June 10 to 16, 2009.

Directed by Carlo Roman Olivarez with a screenplay by Inna Miren Salazar and Alfred Geoffrey Reyes, UPCAT stars Felix Roco, Joseph Roble, Hiyasmin ‘Yas' Neri, Malou Crisologo, and award-winning actors Bembol Roco and Mark Gil.

The movie has the tagline "Ito and kuwento ng mga Sukatan, Pasikatan at Shaded Circles. Ito and Kuwentong UPCAT ni Lucas." In UPCAT, the State University's famous college entrance exam acronym this time becomes a coming-of-age melodrama that shows the dreams and aspirations, hopes and fears, and the roads in the academe teens take to make it in college. UPCAT follows the personal journey and growth of two high school seniors and buddies who believe passing the UPCAT will be a passport to their dreams.

Lucas (Rocco) can get near the girl he fancies and prove his worth to her family who are all UP grads. Joaquin (Roble) on the other hand aims to get a solid job in the future and bring home his mother from her domestic helper employment overseas. Little do they know, that passing the UPCAT and making it in college will further open their minds to things more important things and broaden their perspectives and priorities in life.

Direk Roman admits that his failure to pass the UPCAT ironically became an inspiration for him to produce this brilliant film. He points out that UPCAT is "a relatable film for everyone. Kasi it's all about dreams within and even after college eh. Lahat tayo may UPCAT story, nag-take man tayo or not, pumasa man tayo or bumagsak sa UPCAT."

One of the finalists in the Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival in 2008, UPCAT garnered great support in its screening at the UP Film Institute Theater in Diliman Campus following the awards nights in November last year. It also became the festival's top-grosser in its December screening. This Happy Endings Film production is wonderfully juxtaposed with the background music of Raimund Marasigan.

UPCAT at the IndieSine of the Robinson's Galleria is part of the continuing celebration of Cinema One's Grand Celebration of its 15 years of leadership in the Philippine cable viewing arena.
