The indie films Manila (top frame) and Adela starring Piolo Pascual and Anita Linda, respectively, have been invited to take part in the 31st Moscow International Film Festival.

Two Filipino films have been invited to the 31st Moscow International Film Festival. These are Manila (co-directed by Adolfo Alix Jr. and Raya Martin) and Adela (helmed solely by Direk Adolf).

Direk Adolf told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that the indie films of Piolo Pascual (who also co-produced Manila) and Anita Linda are included in the section called Films Around the World. He also revealed that he will be attending the said film fest from June 20-24.

This year's Moscow IFF will be held from June 19-28, 2009. It aims to  promote cultural exchanges and mutual understanding among nations and to develop further cooperation among filmmakers of the world.

Just last May 2009, Piolo graced the world premiere of Manila in the 61st Cannes Film Festival where it was given a special screening. (Click HERE to view photos of Piolo in Cannes, France.)

In September 2008, Adela was invited to the 33rd Toronto International Film Festival. During that month, the tribute film to Anita Linda was also screened in the Windows to Asian Cinema section of the Pusan International Film Festival in South Korea.
