The writer whose honest musings on love and loss have gained him thousands of followers online is back with a new collection of literary works that will wrench hearts and soothe hurts.

Out now from Summit Books is (Wa)Lang Love: Love Stories na Walang Love Kaya Stories na Lang by Rod Marmol, creator of the Facebook page Utot Catalog, one of the country’s pioneering hugot community pages featuring poetry and prose in the Filipino language.

The follow-up to Marmol’s bestselling 2016 anthology Lahat Tayo May Period (At Iba Pang Punctuation Marks) also published by Summit Books, (Wa)Lang Love similarly tackles hugot themes. This time, however, it focuses on that period following a heartbreak where one has no other recourse but to move on and find healing.

(Wa)Lang Love is divided into 10 chapters that trace the denouement of a love gone sour: from that fateful first meeting, to the onset of conflict, to the bond’s inevitable disintegration, to the grief that follows thereafter, to the final farewell and eventual hope for the future that coming to terms with the end of a relationship brings.

Illustrator Raine Sarmiento, who provided the art for Lahat Tayo May Period, also returns to create artwork for (Wa)Lang Love.

Marmol launched the Facebook page Utot Catalog in 2013 as a platform for poetry and hugot musings by him and contributors who submit their pieces. It is so named because the creator encourages readers to be honest with themselves, confront their emotions, and release their feelings—no matter how painful they are. Through Utot Catalog, Marmol also seeks to promote the Filipino language and awaken the poetic voices of Filipinos. As of this writing, Utot Catalog has close to 460,000 followers on Facebook.

(Wa)Lang Love is out now in bookstores, newsstands, supermarkets, and convenience stores nationwide for P250. Join the discussion and share your posts relating to (Wa)Lang Love on social media by using the hashtag #WalangLove.
