Kim Chiu veers away from romance as she stars in the horror film titled The Healing.

The young actress gets to work with Batangas Governor Vilma Santos in this film directed by Chito Roño. Governor Vi is cast as the stepmother of Kim’s character.  

Her parents in the film are portrayed by Mark Gil and Carmi Martin.

According to Kim, her role is very challenging since her character has a doppelgänger. This term, which literally means "double walker" in German, refers to a ghostly double of a living person, typically representing evil or misfortune.

In a previous interview with PEP.ph, Kim revealed: “Ako din yung gumaganap [ng doppelganger]. Parang ‘Oh my God, ka eksena ko yung sarili ko!’

Does it feel weird watching two versions of herself onscreen?

“Weird yung feeling,” she admitted. “Nung pinanood ko, ako ba ito? Parang na wi-weirduhan lang ako kasi hinahabol ko yung sarili ko, binabato ko ng vase ang sarili ko...”

Was it tiring shooting the same sequence over and over again?

“Nakakapagod kasi hahabulin mo yung sarili mo. Kung ano yung ginagawa mo, yun din ang uulitin mo. May humahabol sa’yo pero ikaw rin hahabol sa sarili mo. Parang tatakbo ka matatakot ka, tatakbo ka nananakot ka naman,” she said with a laugh.

How is like working with the Star for All Seasons?

“Minsan nakakahiya lang…may part na hinahawakan ko yung face niya, parang brutal yung ginagawa ko sa kanya.

“Abangan n’yo na lang. Parang nahihiya ako sa sarili ko na, ‘Oh my gosh, Governor Vilma simple lang po ako.’”

Governor Vi herself instructed Kim to make their physically challenging scenes as realistic as possible.

“Parang hinahawakan niya yung kamay ko at sinasabi niya huwag kang mahiya sa akin. [Sabi ko sa kanya], ‘Hindi po, nahihiya po ako sa inyo.’ Pero pag tagal ginawa ko na lang rin. Sayang yung scene kapag nahiya-hiya ako kasi masasayang yung eksena niya.”

Kim also praised Governor Vi for her professionalism.

“Hindi siya nagagalit kahit itulak-tulak ko na siya parang wala kang makikitang inis sa mukha niya. Kung trabaho, trabaho. Siya pa nagtatanong sa akin, ‘Ok ka lang ba?’ [Sabi ko naman], ‘Hindi po ako nasaktan, kayo po. Ok lang po ba kayo?’”


CRAZY LOVE. Aside from The Healing, Kim is also working on the 20^th anniversary offering of Star Magic. This star-studded movie, tentatively titled Crazy Love, also stars Piolo Pascual, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Angelica Panganiban, Diether Ocampo, Maja Salvador, Jewel Mische, and Joem Bascon.

This project will also mark the reunion of Kim with former flame Gerald Anderson.

Kim says about her character: “Sa movie, anak ako ni Pokwang and wala akong daddy. Single mom lang siya and parang mas bata pa siyang mag isip sa akin. Parang ako yung mas mature sa kanya.”
